not uncommon at all. You may also see Red Fox, Wild Pig, Black Bear......and worst of all snakes....nasty snakes.

My kids and I saw several near Deer lake during Easter week. I've seen them along the road several times and actually have run across them in the woods too. The most notable and interesting sighting for me was on the Cassine Gardens trail.
Coyote are plentiful in the woods. Their tracks and dung are everywhere.

They are more afraid of you than you should be of them...but they like small dogs and cats. Keep them in at night.

Very true....a lady I work with had her chiwawa taken by one Monday night. They will also try to take larger dogs by teaming up on them...one in the front and one in the back. The Atlanta Journal Constitution carried a story about it awhile back. Another friend caught a pack of them trying to take a foal. One had her by the nose and another had ahold of her tail! The owner was able to shoot both and save the little horse.
So...watch out for your pets!!!

coyotes are all over the place, but the ones around here are scrawny. Long ago, I posted a photo of one at the northern edge of Lake Allen. I also recall someone posting about seeing one on the dunes, overlooking the beach somewhere along the western end of our beaches.
