The knife better get alot longer than that.
If people want to continue the current levels of services, then they are going to need to contribute more. Just remember: "Anything the government gives you, it must take by force from someone else"- Ronald Reagan.

IIRC, Cindy Meadows had a cute little office over in Gulf Place that she used when on the BCC. Cecilia Jones has a whole sprawling building that is costing the county something like $182,000 per month or year?

Layoffs
I understand that the Public Works Dept. issued pink slips to people last week resulting in a budget reduction of close to 1/2 million dollars.
This was done while the "BCC-6" still are receiving their "special benefit" of paid Family Insurance. Their benefit would not have saved those positions, but it would have been a start.

I thought it was "5." I read that Mr. Brannon never received any benefit from this program because he is not married.

The current " BCC-6" includes all county commissioners except Scott Brannon, the COunty Administrator and the TDC Director.
The original " BCC-6" included 3 county commissioners, the County Attorney, COunty Administrator and the TDC Director

Where did you get that number from? Did you just make that up, or do you have evidence of it?

The lease is posted in one of these forums. But I think it is around $82K a year instead of the $15k it was.

I think the lease says in kind services. Since government is unable to create wealth anything that they do cost money.

There has been no exchange of money so far, 1st year paid with land we could have sold them for $100K+.
The lease says payable in "Cash, in-kind services or other forms of payment acceptable to the lessor".
Doesn't matter if its paving(or any other in-kind service) we would have to buy the asphalt, etc or other materials to provide the service.
No free lunch.

I am always amazed that people think that government can do something in-kind and that is somehow free.

in-kind
/ˈɪnˌkaɪnd/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [in-kahynd] Show IPA Use in-kind in a Sentence
–adjective 1. paid or given in goods, commodities, or services instead of money: in-kind welfare programs.
Basically the county could "owe" Regional Utilities favors. I'd prefer they just stick with cash payments. How much you want to bet that there are some issues with the valuation of in-kind services?

Google Wisdom - concerning your signature line
"Barak Obama" + "Socialist" = 2,600,000 results
"Barak Obama" + "Idiot" = 2,890,000 results
Seems pretty well evenly divided.

Thanks for the info. I will have to read the lease. I thought that the property covered the cost of renting the building?

You should try it yourself.
"Barak Obama" + "Socialist" = 68,800
"Barak Obama" + "Idiot" = 60,400
"Barak Obama" + "great" = 759,000
Funny you seem to be misguided or just out right a liar.

Seriously - should I be ashamed of the fact that I take that drug - is it used to treat a condition that I contributed to through my life style ? Do you find humor in making lite of all people with early alzheimer's ?
Studies showed ARICEPT slows the progression of Alzheimer's symptoms. It improves cognition, which may include effects on memory. It slows the loss of overall function, which may include effects on everyday tasks.
Seems to be working pretty well right now - hopefully it will continue.

I can assure you that skunky gives compassion and sympathy to real people all day long.
Sock puppets are a whole different story.

While I read most of your posts with ironic humor, it is beyond the pale to post something like this regarding someone's health problem. I certainly don't agree with IG most of the time or you, either, but more and more this forum teaches me civility, though sometimes I fall off the wagon or become outraged at some of the idiocy posted.
For your information, us older folk are neither senile or stupid. We have already lived through what you will have to live through at least once. In short, at times, your "smart alecky" attitude is not appreciated.
