The "rest of the story" must be something else I cannot understand why/how a public employee can tell a taxpayer "not to call them for anything" or how a public entity can tolerate an employee saying that, if true.

Believe me that is not all of the story, but that is up to Mr. Cooper to answer, even though I could.

If this is the same Barker, yes. Back when Quinn was Sheriff. There was a trial, something about cell phones. Someone with a better memory, feel free to jump in here.
The E911 was an issue during Ralph Johnson's tenure, if I recall correctly.

The jail, emergency management, 911 dispatching and call taking have always been political footballs, guess what they all have in common. The Sheriff has either had them in the past and given them up and have also elected to take them back. Bet a dollar the jail will be back in the Sheriff fold within the next 3 years.

Well my understanding is that the issue would best be discussed by Mr. Cooper - has nothing to do with cell phones or issues from the past. Always two sides to a story. Happened today.

Didnt throw any stink bombs, just passing a message. Show me in my post where I mentioned anything about E911 or cell phones. Looks like folks formulated their own opinion. Its strange that a name can automatically be linked to controversy. I do agree with you when you say there is two sides to a story. It sounds as if you are very educated on the post, and if so you should know its not my issue to discuss. Thats a hunt for someone elses dog, I put mine in the pen.

You do have a point. Don't start something you don't want to finish.

I have absolutely no idea what this thread is about and I really could care less.
What I do care about is our 911 system. It is important to me and every other citizen how it functions and that it function properly. If this doesn't have to do with the 911 system, fine. If it does, let's hear about it. Emergency care and dispatch is the wrong place for politics and EMS needs to function as near perfectly as possible.

If I remember correctly Mr. Cooper's wife works for Emergency Management. Apparently there is some sort of difficulty between the Coopers and Mr. Barker, who I believe is over the department now. I hope the issues do not negatively impact the response to a hurricane, otherwise, like you Andy, this is none of my affair.
