And if they are in charge of water conservation in Sowal, how do I get their phone number to report all the road sprinkling and broken irrigation "fountains"?

This is from Walton County's website:
The Choctawhatchee River Soil and Water Conservation district provides leadership in the administration of programs to promote economic development of the community through the conservation, improvement and sustenance of our natural resources and environment. This includes: - Providing technical hydrologic engineering data to design storm water and sediment control structures along roads and waterways, fields and pastures
- Sponsoring grants received through the Three Rivers Resource Conservation and Development Council for the improvement and development of school facilities, Little League, YMCA and other community organizations; and
- Sponsoring and supporting the personnel provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service to the local office.

Their total buget looks to be around $102,000 if I'm reading the 2009 budget correctly.

Choctawhatchee River Soil and Water Conservation District supervisors receive no salary or benefits for serving on this board. They volunteer their time. The reason most Walton County citizens have not heard of this district in the past is because most of what they do is connected to agriculture. Also, it has been several years since anyone has actually run for one of these positions. The current chairperson is Cathy Johnson.

Now JohnR I thought we weren't going to throw grenades any longer. I simply responded to Rapunzels question and there you go again.
All I know is that all of the candidates are registered republicans and stated that fact.
Be nice

Cathy S Johnson
Hello, I am Cathy S Johnson and I am running for Supervisor with Choctawhatchee River, Soil & Water Conservation District. I have been a supervisor since March, 2001 and have served as chairperson since June, 2005. I have been dealing in agriculture since moving to Walton County in 1991.
Our biggest challenge is providing assistance to farmers and landowners with problems related to soil and water conservation, as changes in the economy and in land use occur in Walton County. We provide quality technical and professional assistance to landowners with soil and water conservation concerns when requested. In addition we promote USDA programs which help finance the installation of natural resource conservation practices.
I would like to ask that you vote for me in the November 4th election so I may continue working towards better conservation in Walton County.

Thanks for volunteering
Anyone who volunteers for environmental duties does more than the ones giving lip service to the job. Wade into freezing water in February then you have a right to critisize. Their are plenty of unfulfilled positions with Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance, Okaloosa County Environmental Councils Aqualab program, Florida Lakewatch, and others. Get involved or get out of the way.
