Vote your Heart?

Fellow Voters,

Do you always vote from your heart, for the candidate YOU feel most comfortable hiring? Or is it really true that many voters will vote for the person they believe is going to ultimately win (seemingly strong candidate), regardless of their own true feelings (positive) of an opposing candidate in a particular race. I've always heard this: "People will vote for who they think is going to win," despite their OWN preference. “People want to be on a winning side.”

Is there anything to this political hearsay?

Lucky Me

It does not have to be either/or? I guess I got lucky and got (mostly) both characteristics (beliefs and winners) in my candidates. My heartfelt belief after research and interaction at forums, and/or personal knowledge over many years.

Adkinson
Anderson
Hudson
Wilkerson
Johnny Smith (not so certain about the win on this one, so enter the heart)
Lee Perry and
Zuma Banks

None of this is intended to discount or question the other candidates,. just my honest and heartfelt opinion. I think I will be Mostly pleased on Tuesday.

5th Gen Local,

Thank you for your reply.

"Mostly pleased?" Probably so. Except for your vote for Hudson and Smith. Just my honest and heartfelt opinion.

I am hoping the voters will do their homework on Dist 5 and reject the apparent front runner. I must agree with you, that it probably want happen and she will win.

See there. People probably really do vote for who they think is going to win, as I originally questioned.

I'll admit, Mr. Hudson does seems like a very nice man. He's not from here, though. And thats going to hurt him most.

I may be way off here, but from what I see, there are more voters in Walton County who are NOT "from here," than there are voters, from here, so I don't see how your statement pulls any weight.

My vote is not based on who I think will win, but I do think that people tend to lean toward the masses.

Johnny Post will become famous soon enough
I agree with the earlier statements that voting for the perceived "winner" and voting with for the candidate you like best are not mutually exlcusive. I am not sure that really answers your question though.

I think most people will vote for the person they most prefer. A second part of this issue is based on party affiliation, which more and more has become a decision point over the individual (which is sad in many cases).

More and more though, I believe this will change in this county. The reason is the lack of runoff elections. In these cases, I think we will see more people vote for the candidate they feel can win if their first choice is only going to end up in a worse choice being elected.

I am really getting tired of Adkinson and his supporters. Their best arguement to vote for him is that he's not ralph and if you don't vote for him ralph will be re-elected. I don't like voting for the lessor of two evils and I appreciate a choice. I am going to vote for Mr. Cooper because I believe he is the BEST of the candidates and will straighten the mess out up there in DFS.The fact is if the majority of the voters feel the same as I and vote that way, ralph is out. If they don't agree and vote for someone else, so be it. Either way, the world will not end.

If a thread was started about a new cure for cancer, some of you would say, Adkinson created cancer. By now we are all real clear that you do not support him and you support Cooper. So do you vote with your heart or based on who you think can win? Respectfully, that was the question.

I'm going to vote for who I think can win: Mr. Cooper. I think you might be reaching with the cancer thing, that is a bit much for a sheriff's candidate one way or the other.

What Adkinson has cured cancer? I'll vote for him...

What does voting with your and using your head have anything to do with this?

The vote is based on who will serve us/me/you the best. Not who will give me enough lube to help me insert my head.
