Why do politicians think peddling greasy fish to their prospective constituents is a great way to get votes? Stopping up your supporters arteries does not seem like such a smart thing to do.:rolling :

Some of my fondest memories were the political rallies with fried fish! Mullet! Yumm! My favorite! Greasy? I doubt it, some of those folks really know how to cook it, it's a regular meal for some fortunate folks! If you've never tried it, Mullet is a vegetarian fish, only eats algae, etc. Because it's caught generally in the bay, brackish water, the meat is delicate, not strong, and doesn't taste like the muddy water of the river. Dad used to cook it dusted with fish fry meal in an iron skillet on an open fire in the yard!

Deep fired mullet and lots of it!! Don't let it sit...cook them as soon as they are cleaned. 24 hr old dead mullet starts to take on a strong flavor.

You gonna serve any iced tea and BBQ, like real old-fashion poli-tickin? If someone wanted to top the fish fry, they might get Jambone's, or hire chrisv to cook some Q.

BBQ is good, but around here, old-time politickin' involves mullet. Trust me here.

On the other hand, my dad was quoted as saying, during his first unsuccessful campaign for the BCC, that following his election he was going to hold a donkey roast. Everyone who voted for him was welcome to come over and get a piece of a__.

(I probably just got slung to the Lounge, or banned...)

Hey don't forget about the gospel sing, that's the best part of all. Food for the soul.

That takes on new meaning in Republican politics.

Sweet tea, baked beans, cole slaw, and hushpuppies! Yea! Don't care much for cheese grits, but we'd clean the fish and while it was still jumping, throw in in the skillet!

In fact, as I recall, the fish fry was at the Democratic rally, and the coctail hour was at the Republican rally. Times have changed!

So, Tony,
How was the fish fry? As we drove by, did not see too many cars there, maybe it was too early...11:30
