Handicap Accessible Beaches

Hello! I am bringing my sister and my mother to Ft. Walton for the first time! My sister is in a wheelchair, and I need to know where the handicap-accessible beaches are located. We are staying at Waterscape in Fort Walton. THANKS SO MUCH!

Ft Walton is like another world for most of us. I have no idea, but maybe someone can chime in.

Very possible. I had another guy asking me about real estate in Ft Walton, after I had been discussing South Walton. He meant South Walton.

For starters, there are four beautiful beachfront parks and six mini-beach parks which feature ADA accessibility, showers and restrooms.

Meanwhile here is SoWal access info - Protect Beaches of South Walton

The South Walton Fire District, in partnership with the Walton County Tourist Development Council, has developed a program that provides three beach wheelchairs, strategically located along the Beaches of South Walton, to improve access to the beach. The wheelchairs were purchased by the TDC and the program is administered by the SWFD Beach Safety Division.

The wheelchairs, constructed from stainless steel tubing with large bubble tires that allow the chair to traverse the soft sand, will be located at the following beach accesses, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily from April through September:
  • Pompano Joe's (Miramar Beach)
  • Ed Walline Park (Santa Rosa Beach
  • Bramble Grove (Seagrove Beach)
