OMG We Will Be FL Residents Starting THIS Sunday!
The time has come. We sign all papers on our place tomorrow, pick up the U-Haul, pack it Fri and Saturday and leave Sunday to become permanent FL residents!
We will rent in Destin till mid December, when HOPEFULLY, our house will be finished and we can become permanent residents of SoWal - Blue Mtn. Beach!
Thanks so much for being so welcoming and above all, ENTERTAINING
I have really found a nest of wonderful folk and thanks for sharing your piece of paradise with me.
Look forward to saying howdy in person one day. This is me and my dh (whom we will call Moondoggie as he was Gidget's beau in the movies) >
See you on the beach, or in the store, or in Red Bar, or in the dog park.......
Gidget

The official Sowal greeting is "the otter flies at midnight".
Say it to random people who seem to be staring at you in bars and restaurants. If they're Sowallers, they know what it means, if they aren't you win the "crazy" game and they'll leave you alone.

Wow.. Had decided SoWallers were mostly vermin-fixated. I keep hearing people say: " The other flies are mid-size..." I've smiled and answered things like, "yes, but there are some big ones at the beach...."

I didn't want to leave Seagrove today, but renters were coming in. We are working on downsizing so that we don't need to rent. Then I can spend 5 months a year at the beach.
Gidget, welcome to paradise!

Welcome, Gidget and Moondoggie! I'm working on scoring some figs real soon. Let me know when you've found your toothbrush and Vitamix.

Hey Gidget! We moved here about 2 years ago (I grew up in Louisiana) anyway, welcome!
Good news on your house maybe being completed in December! I sell kitchen appliances; all major brands (including laundry)..I'd love to quote the job! We are very price competitive, install and service as well.
Please keep me in mind, and let me know if I can help!
Thanks!

CSully, that is great to hear! We'll be there in a couple years - at least part time! Hope it works out for us too.

Awwww thanks again for all the welcoming posts!!
So far we have:
Gone to DMV and got our tags and driver's licensees (excellent experience - no hassle)
Guess which plate we picked out? I also spend HOURS getting the Louisiana dirt and grime off our old Honda - living on a dirt road has taken its toll!
We also unpacked and hung pictures and got our doggie beach tag for Natasha.
I also had my first dip in the Gulf and my first run this morning - it has been a week since I ran. The bruise on my arse from tumbling out of U-haul is getting better thank goodness! I can't believe I did that.
Is anyone going to the potluck at the community garden on Wednesday? I hope to go!
See you guys
Gidget
