Times article

This is just horrible, I am posting it because I DID NOT KNOW this and I NEED TO KNOW this and other things about the food I feed my family. This is just not necessary, This kind of thing would stop if the consuming public would make different choices. I AM NOT ADVOCATING A VEGAN DIET,,,JUST MORE HUMANE COMMERCIAL FARMING.

Thanks for posting Teresa. SAD AND SICK way to feed a people.

Let's face it, people are not going to stop eating eggs over this. SOME may - it does it for me but then again I knew long ago that chicks and pigs have it worse than any other mass produced animal.

Here's the choices:

STOP EATING ALL EGGS
EAT ONLY LOCAL EGGS
EAT FEWER STORE BOUGHT EGGS
WRITE EGG COMPANY AND DEMAND BETTER TREATMENT
IGNORE THIS VIDEO

"Organic, cage free" bought in stores still get their chicks from hatcheries LIKE THE ONE IN THE VIDEO.

Peace starts on our plates. Please consider local eggs from the following source:

Twin Oaks Farm | Where we grow real food

Thanks again Teresa.

Have you guys read "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" by Barbara Kingsolver? It's my new favorite book.

One of the (many) things that struck me when reading it was how these giant corporate farms have managed to get loopholes and technicalities written into labeling.

For example - a chicken can be labeled "free range" even if it has never gone outside in its life as long as they open the door to its area a certain number of times.

I know we have discussed that "organic" doesn't mean what many people think it does, but even I was surprised by some of the nonsense.
