No!

That calls for a Doctor's visit, you could be attempting to treat appendicitis or gall stones w/ a "cleanse".

I had gall bladder attacks for several years & made a couple of trips to the er. The best solution, get rid ot it! The surgery is very easy and even outpatient, much easier than a gall bladder attack.

thanks!!! I am scheduled for a ct scan next week & follow up with a general surgeon so I am on the right track, but saw that cleanse info online & wondered about it.

I do eat a lot of protien (chicken, fish, cheese), and use protien drinks to try to keep my weight in check, but may have to cut way back on those until this is taken care of...

I've had the "ache" off & on for about a year or so, it's getting more frequent lately so I thought I'd check it out.

Anyway - thanks again for the advice! I knew I'd be turned in the right direction here!

You did the right thing. Whenever somebody suggests a 'cleanse' to remedy something, ask what substance specifically needs to be removed. The silence will be deafening.

MO2K, have you lost weight recently? When my husband had his gallbladder attack (and removal) the Dr. told him that could contribute to gallbladder trouble. He had just lost 70 lbs. on weight watchers a few months earlier.

Don't know much about the "cleanse." I wish you well.

I had mine gallbladder removed after losing 45 lbs. The surgery was very easy as I was back at work a week later. It took a second test to diagnosis my gallbladder, so do not be surprised if it does not show up on the first. I will be thinking of you, so let us know how things are going.

Thank you so much! I did lose about 50 pounds last year and I am still trying so I guess that's about when the pain started. Now that I'm getting healthier my body is rebelling! LOL!

I did sign up to the Seaside half marathon!! Woo-hoo! It's my first, and I'm "in training" for it so my body is really rebelling now. I am really looking forward to March 1st though - if you haven't signed up - it's open to sign up now!

Without that gallbladder weighing you down you'll fly like the wind!

Yes, my body prefers the "slob" state. It always rebels when I try to get healthy.

I have been having gallbladder trouble too. I met w/ a surgeon and did ask her about the cleanses. She suggested I not do the one's with olive oil, but try the ones w/ apple juice--honestly I haven't found any w/ out olive oil. The sad part is, it may not work and one could get stuck during the cleanse, but it may be worth a try. You need to figure out if your problem is gallstones, or a diseased, or non-functioning gallbladder.

I can't do the cleanse yet, but am considering it after the first of the year. My doc said to stay away from fatty foods, or a high fat meal. And after an attack that happened after only a jamba juice and a salad, she said lettuce is a known offender.

Hope this helps.

Wow! Who knew lettuce would be an offender?? I eat salad A LOT! Yikes! Ok - so I have to stay away from fatty foods, fried foods, red meat, dairy, chocolate (yes - its a food group!), and now lettuce! I will be on an all liquid diet before you know it. I guess if that liquid is vodka then it's not that bad then.

Do you know for sure it's your gallbladder? If after all the test's it's not your gallbladder you should go see Suzanne at For the Health of it on 30A. She is so knowledgeable on the body and how to naturally improve things. Even if it is your gallbladder, she could probably still get you on the road to recovery.

While I agree with Skunkape that a cleanse may not work in an acute situation, to imply that we don't need to detoxify the body isn't helpful.

Our bodies have several systems that naturally and continuously remove toxins. However our modern life seems to overwhelm the body's natural abilities. To detox or cleanse simply means that we're removing any unhelpful chemistry from the blood and lymph, perhaps even some of the fat-soluble toxins that get stored in our fat cells.

If someone has gallbladder problems, it implies that the liver is over-stressed and a detox may be in order, to supplement whatever an MD may recommend to correct the immediate problem. It may be even more helpful to change the life-style so as to reduce the load on the liver, kidneys, digestive system, etc. We should never have to do a "cleanse" but many of us have taken in a lot of unhelpful chemistry.

That we don't know which unhelpful chemicals we're removing is not really the point. When we shower, we don't know the makeup of the dirt that is washed away. Are we assuming that there are no unhelpful chemicals in the body? Even though I personally have a lot of faith in the intelligence of the body to distinguish between helpful and unhelpful, I think that there are chemicals in our air, water and food that our bodies were not designed to deal with at the levels that we are ingesting them.

You should visit your doctor, it can be that you have gallstones, gallstone commonly causes gall bladder pain.

I agree. It's nothing to play with. I got misdiagnosed twice when I had gallstones. By the third trip to the ER, it has gone toxic and I had to have emergency surgery. A simple ultrasound can tell.
