Is there a bug going around?

I woke up with a headache, sore throat, upset stomach, hot one second/cold the next. My daughter was supposed to have a checkup today and when I called to cancel the receptionist said they have seen a lot of people lately with these symptoms.
Anyone else? (note: this is not the same "feeling bad" that I had after too many vodka tonics the other night)

I know we're not local but my son had strep throat two weeks ago. He had a fever for several days, chills etc, then finally told me about his sore neck and throat.

Hope you are feeling better soon!

My grandson and I passed something similar back and forth, (sans the sore throat), 4th of July week. Fever, queasy upset tummies, just enough to make you want to stay in bed and be crabby. It was over the period of about 2 to 3 days.

Yes, there are a few unpleasant microbes rampaging through SOWAL at this time.

There is an influenza-like syndrome I am seeing in adults. Symptoms sound very similar to what you are experiencing. I have seen lots of this the last three days. Not a whole lot to do but rest, drink lots of fluids and take tylenol/ibuprofen.

In the wonderful world of pediatrics, there is a spike of viral diarrhea. In fact, Publix was sold out of pedialyte last night! We are also seeing many kids with what appears to be fairly mild Coxsackievirus infection.

Your best defense-wash your hands!

I was sick all last week
I never actually ran a fever, but I felt like I had one, hot one minute and cold the next. And I never actually puked, I just felt like I wanted to. For something "mild" I felt truly awful. No energy at all. Lasted longer than I thought it would, too.
But hey, I'm Not Dead Yet,

Downside to living in a tourist area, they bring it from all over.

Between the tourists who don't let an illness spoil their vacations, and the military bringing back bugs from every undisclosed location between here and Uzbekistan, the area is seriously Weird Disease Vector Central.

I don't know whether I would rather have a bug or the Klebsiella Pneumoniae bacteria that has infected my urinary tract. The macrobid I was on was and is ineffective against that and I was switched to Ciprofloxacin.

Came home yesterday dx'd with acute sinusitis and bronchitis. I think I would feel bad, but I'm too numb from the cough syrup they gave me.

Two of my five kids have been very sick with the flu-like virus. Very weird. Fever, upset stomach (some vomiting), sore throat, congestion, and conjunctivitis in one eye. My first child to get it got over it in a few days, a week later his younger brother got it and has been very sick. He was checked for strep throat and mono, which were both negative.

Edit: Bad headache too, that was one of the main symptoms. I was initially worried about meningitis.

Well the "this is a 48 hour thing" theory is out the window. Now I have lost my voice, have trouble breathing, coughing, my ears hurt, my throat hurts, I have a fever one minute and am cold and clammy the next. I'm sick of being sick. I have too many things to do.
You know you are in trouble when you work from home and are too sick to go to work!

Hang in there! Being sick is the pits! One of my kids had a fever for 3 days the other for 6 (he is finally fever-free today) with upper respiratory congestion that lasts longer than the fever. I always know when my kids are not really very sick--they complain constantly. This time around they've just rested quietly on the couch or in their beds so I know it must be pretty bad. They've been too sick to complain! I've been keeping us all in and everyone else out so as not to spread this thing around.

If I could remove the right side of my head, I'd feel better. God-awful sore throat, right nostril alternating stuffy and running, right temple hurts, right cheekbone hurts, right eye watering, roots of upper teeth on right side aching...and no steroids or ibuprofen, as I'm scheduled for gum/bone periodontal surgery on upper right side on Wednesday...

Goodness....a friend of mine has four kids and the same thing seems to be cycling through the family one at a time. She's been cooped up for the past 2 weeks!

Hope everyone gets well soon!!!

That's a sinus infection! I have a lot of experience in the sinus infection arena, and when the roots of the teeth hurt on one side, that's no virus. Go to the doctor! Sinus flush and antibiotics, pronto!

You poor thing. I would not want to do that perio work when I felt that bad. But the periodontal issue may be what's causing your sinus infection. The alveolar process connects the upper teeth to the sinus area, if you have bacteria there it can extend to the sinus and cause a sinus infection. Talk to your doctors and your dentist, good luck and feel better soon.

No gum surgery this week, and I just found out the first reschedule date isn't going to work. It is only (only? ) a crown lengthening, but the teeth affected are the ones that are currently uncomfortable. I hope it is not the teeth feeding the infection...

But, I now have pills. Pretty little pills.

Quinn must have picked up the stomach bug from SPICE. She was really low key yesterday and fell asleep on the couch at 6 last night...very unusual for her. Started throwing up about 11p.m. and stopped about 9 this morning. She sat straight up at 5 a.m. and puked all over the down comforter so Tim's gonna be doing some polickin' at the laundromat this afternoon...
