SoWal Writers Group Starts Again
We've pretty much finished our summer travels and are ready to meet again. We'll start this coming Tuesday, Sept 1.
We meet each Tues at 10am at the "owner's lounge and library" at Redfish Village.
The lounge is directly above the management office on the second floor. Go up the stairs or elevator located inside the parking garage. (Walk toward the pool area and you'll see the elevators).
Bring you own coffee, tea and snacks. There's a great PJ's coffee shop at Redfish.
We're a warm and friendly group so don't be intimidated; bring something to read to us if you like.

FYI--thought you might be interested in knowing about this in case you had not heard:
Gulf Coast Writers Conference
Looks like a good Conference.

GW - Thx for posting this. I attended the Emerald Coast Writers Conf. last spring and it was a very worthwhile experience. I'm sure this will be too.

Just something I wrote earlier today as inspiration struck. Thought I'd share it.
Looking at a flower
That blooms before my eyes.
Staring at its fragrance
As my heartbeat starts to rise.
Soaking up each image,
And storing it in my soul.
Wishing I could touch her,
But praying for control.
She dances ever so softly,
And sways with gentle breeze.
The way she makes me feel,
She does so with such ease.
Captured by her magic,
And lulled in by her charms.
I want to have her cradled,
Deeply in my arms.
But for now, she is but a dream.
Though with closed eyes, I can see her again.
So off to sleep I’ll travel,
Tucked in beneath my sheet.
Where dreams of her, I’ll surely find,
And again, My Love, I’ll meet.

When stars fall they leave a flame.
When loss is felt, there is a pain,
And sorrow courses through every vein.
Hope is that time heals.
But then days pass, and time reveals.
That underlying all the pain,
Is life itself, regretfully mundane.
So the search ensues,
With fragments unearthed,
Desperately desirous,
For happiness’ birth.
And soon will be rendered,
If time is arrived,
That salient moment
Where ‘succinct’ is derived.
Undoubtedly general,
As poets can be,
But through words and between them,
Truth, one can see.

Happiness, no one can take
For it is innate;
Despite disturbances and pains
With happiness, always that cognizance of gains.
Unseen as pains are, private,
For some deeply stored behind a transparent gate
Yet, around every corner an excitement for renewed strength
Makes a smile easy, Pure Love the Desire.
This Desire manifests the Truth within.

The depth of my tears and from where they flow,
No one can truly know.
The picture at which I peer I don’t remember the year,
But it is of my son.
His eyes and their stare somehow travel through air,
And meet me with utter permanence… and I die.
I die because though he smiles, there exist below something I know.
And I know it all too well.
It is what he misses in his heart. He misses what my soul has never felt. The days I did not see him grow. The hours I did not feel his heartbeat against my chest and his breath against my ear, telling me, “Daddy, I love you.” The nights I failed to hear his cough as he retired to bed, not being able to kiss his forehead, tuck him in and escort him into dreams. The days not spent on the lawn, pitching and catching and looking into each other’s smiles, our eyes like Planets, orbiting in each others love.
But perhaps one day in some form God will smile upon us and give us a new beginning. Perhaps He will allow us a life without the battlements of the human condition. Perhaps we will exist only as love and need no container to hold us.
That is the life I live for. I live for Evan Michael.
