OPEN HOUSE, DEC. 5, Walton County Heritage Museum

Another great reason to visit SoWal and Walton County in Autumn and Winter. Come Early. Extend Your Stay. Make It Your Home.

OPEN HOUSE

Make plans to attend the Walton County Heritage Museum's "Open House" on Saturday, December 5, 2009. The museum is centrally located to the annual "Tour of Homes" and the Chautauqua Hall of Brotherhood's "Festival of Trees" held in DeFuniak also on that day. Stop by the museum before, during or after your home tour or tree festival to relax and view our Victorian and Historic Homes DVD. Free admission to the Walton County Heritage Museum, donations appreciated. You'll want to also plan to spend extra time shopping and eating in historic DeFuniak Springs during this fun filled day. With so much to do, you'll probably want to come early or extend your visit to Walton County. From the many historic venues in Walton County to the beautiful white beaches of South Walton, you have many reasons to linger.

Snowbirds: Make plans now to come early and enjoy the museum and this special event. Locals: Invite family and friends to come visit Walton County during this great time of year.

FYI Please Note: The "Tour of Homes" is a ticketed event sponsored by Partners in Progress. The "Festival of Trees" is also a fund raising event sponsored by the Chautauqua Hall of Brotherhood (CHOB). The CHOB is raising funds for the historic Chautauqua Building. I'll post more details from these seperate events by other organizations when available.

Woo-hoo! I am overdue for a "Defuniak Day"!

Hard to beat a day trip to see the Museum, Holiday Tour of Homes, lunch, shopping, and then light display!

The lights are going up around the lake and decorations are beginning to appear. Tell your friends and family to make their plans now to visit. I would expect there are some excellent values for accommodations.

The Walton County Heritage Museum is open Wed. - Saturday 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Admission is free, donations always appreciated. Open House has extended hours of 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

December 5 is also the day for the ANNUAL TOUR OF HOMES sponsored by Partners in Progress, a non-profit public service organization. "Experience an Old-Fashioned Christmas" Tickets on Sale Day of Tour (Saturday, Dec. 5) 8 am - 3 pm at DeFuniak Springs Visitors Center on Circle Drive (next door to museum). The tours are open until around 4 pm, but tickets will not be sold after 3 pm.

Adults $16 and Children under 12 $5 (Babes in arms: free)

For more information on the ANNUAL TOUR OF HOMES call 850-892-3191 or 850-892-2004.

This is the cute little Visitor's Center where you'll go to get tickets for the Annual Tour of Homes. They will begin selling tickets at 8 a.m. the day of the event. I believe they are open on Friday and Saturday's for general information from around 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is located next to the museum on Circle Drive in DeFuniak Springs, Florida.
