Staged Play Reading Series Continues at the Rep!

Last week's reading of Rich Orloff's DOMESTIC TRANQUILITY was a standing-room-only affair in the Meeting Hall, so be sure to arrive early at the Rep this Wednesday night for our 7:30pm reading of the spooky spoof THE MYSTERY OF IRMA VEP by Charles Ludlam.

If you are a Rep Member, another reason to arrive early is to pick up your FREE, reserved ticket for one or both of the two limited-seating screenings of the Torchlight Film Series hosted by the Rep on November 14 and 21. While the films are a secret, I can promise you that both of these films are first-run, critically acclaimed, and Oscar-worthy, and this will be your one and only chance to see these films in this area.

If you are not a member, you can get tickets beginning this Saturday.....

New Show this Wednesday!

Criminal Hearts
by Jane Martin
“Loads of fun…. Wonderful farcical comedy.” Detroit News.
In total darkness, a burglar breaks into Ata’s apartment. She wakes and claims to have a gun. The burglar turns on a light revealing a luxury apartment totally denuded of furniture. Ata has been cleaned out by her lawyer husband. In revenge for his philandering, she slept with his best friend and he took all of the furniture in his rage. The burglar actually a female grifter and Ata join forces. The grifter and her male partner have lost their “shimmy”, the woman who pretends to the mark to have been victimized, and it is clear that Ata would make an excellent replacement. Fans of the author’s Talking With, Vital Signs, Cementville and What Mama Don’t Know will delight in the quirky humor of this cross between Thelma and Louise and The Grifters.

The Housekeeper

The final wednesday reading of the year!

11/18/2009

Frankie and Johnny in the Clair De Lune
by Terrance McNally
Winner of the Dramatists Guild Hull Warriner Award. A critical and popular success, this bittersweet comedy combines poignancy and laughter as it traces the unlikely romance that begins to develop between two middle-aged “losers.”

“Terrence McNally has…a hit…in FRANKIE AND JOHNNY IN THE CLAIR DE LUNE. A romantic two-hander with character depth and an abundance of laughs…” —Variety.

“A richly warm, humorous, clear-eyed portrait of the beginning of a relationship, it cuts deeper to the heart than any previously seen McNally works…” —Drama-Logue.

“…Terrence McNally’s very sweet, extraordinarily funny, romantic and ribald comedy…” —NY Post.

“Terrence McNally is one of our most original and audacious dramatists, and one of our funniest…” —The New Yorker.

We saw the "Frankie and Johnny" reading last night. Excellent, as always.

Thanks so much to the Rep for this series. It's a fine way to pass a Wednesday evening.
