Other fun activities include Mommy and Me Tea, Father and Son Flag Football, The Turkey Trot 5k and 10K run and a beach bonfire.

Last year we got takeout from Calypso's in Panama City Beach (about a 10-15 minute drive from our condo in Seacrest). It included a whole fried turkey, plus sides--sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, green beans, dressing, etc. and white chocolate bread pudding. It fed 7 of us easily, with leftovers, and the cost was about $100. It was delicious, and I would highly recommend it!

We will be doing a buffet again for Thanksgiving. There will be two seatings. One at 11:30 AM, and the other at 2:00 PM. The buffet will be $35.00 per adults, $15.00 for children of ages 3-12, and free for children under 3. Call (850) 231- 9020 for reservations. Here is the menu:

We have three households who intend to buy the cooked bird and pick it up and just make the sides ourselves. We want to make an informed decision on the establishment we end up using. Can you guys please help me make a list of all the establishments that offer this Thanksgiving service.

It would also be great if anyone who has done this in the past could chime in and share their experience...

I don't know of any place that you can pick up a warm turkey on Thanksgiving day. Just the establishments that are having their special meals.

Go ahead and cook your turkey. It is actually the easiest part of the meal. My mother found a recipe almost 50 years ago on the back of the aluminum foil. It has been used in my family for that long. Everyone that has ever eaten with our families and now etended families wants the recipe. It sounds kind of quacky but it is truly outstanding. Here goes:

Pre heat oven to 450 degrees. Rinse thawed frozen bird or fresh bird and pat dry. Brush with oil (I use olive). Salt and pepper inside and out. Tear off a piece of Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil about 2 1/2 sizes larger than your bird. Place bird lengthwise in center of sheet. Close by overlapping ends. Fold up sides and close air tight. Place in a throw away turkey roasting pan at lease 2 inches deep. Times for sizes of birds are listed below. Note that if you stuff your bird, stuff it loosely and cook an extra 30 minutes to below times. Also open foil the last 30 minutes of roasting time for bird to brown. You can baste with pan juices if you want.

Turkey Size Roasting Time

8 - 12 pounds 1 1/2 to 2 1/4 hours
12 - 16 pounds 2 1/4 to 2 3/4 hours
16 - 20 pounds 2 3/4 to 3 1/4 hours
20 - 24 pounds 3 1/4 to 3 3/4 hours

Remove from oven. Cover the bird back up. Let stand for 15 minutes, which makes it easier to slice.

You also have your juice from the bird which makes the best gravey when added to some of your turkey stock from the giblets.

Trust me, this could not be easier. And it comes our so moist.

Hot turkey is better than cold reheated.

If you really want the easy way out listen to this one. Buy your frozen turkey breasts (real ones) not stuffed, just breast with bone. Buy a aluminum foil cooking bag. Wash your frozen bird, throw a hand full of flour in the bag, add a little salt and pepper. Close tight. Place in throw away roasting pan. Put in the oven around 10 or 11PM on 275 degrees, take out about 8 AM (you can adjust the times of when you put in and take out accordingly). If falls off the bone and is great also. Go buy a frozen breast and do a trial run.
