The Granite Cafe.....
I have just got to share this "find".., actually out of town friends, found it, took me to dinner Friday night...It is in the old Saint Andrews area/Panama City.... worth the drive... I highly recommend the Grouper Ponchetran..sp?..It is EXCELLANT... a bed of garlic mashed potatoes with a pan sauteed filet of grouper with a pan fried soft shell crab on top.... MUAH... AWESOME... try it you will like it.. for those of you that know St. Andrews area.. it was the former Le Shack... south Beck Dr., south of The Shrimp Boat, and Hunts Oyster BAR.... YUMMY!!!!

They also have a great seafood market inside.

The Granite Cafe is great. The restaurant changed ownership in May and the last two times we were there it was wonderful. The new owners have made a strong commitment to the food and service. The place had become tired and overpriced. The previous restaurant, Le Shack, use to be the pinnacle of fine dining in PC many years ago. It wasn't bad, but I believe it was first time I payed over $25.00 for an entree. It was the 80's, mind you.

Where is the Shrimp Boat? I usually go to Hunts and sit at the bar and end up bringing a pint of oysters home
Thanks.

ElledgeL, the Shrimp Boat is right UP (coming in from 98 onto Beck Ave). from the Granite Cafe on right where the docks begin. Cool spot, our family ate there often when I was kid (70's). I like the new place, especially the old sign located in the restaurant. Be careful, Tan Fannies is across the street:) Do they shuck the oysters and let you leave with them or are they pre-shucked for purchase? No can do in AL. Love Hunt's!

Desso. thanks for the info. I didn't know there was a Seafood Market there. We were there once a while back (could have been last year) and didn't think they were open.
They will shuck 'em while you wait. It's the only place I can get the real appalach ones...small and tastey. Learned that some places call them the real thing and if you look closely they are packed there but the container tells you where they are really from, could be FL, AL, or LA or many other states!
Again..thanks.

WE went to lunch at Hunts on SATURDAY.... and yes it is as good as EVER..but BE PREPARED to wait unless you get there before they open at 11 or go later in the afternoon before dinner crowd..if you were in front of Hunts look across the street a lil to the right and you will see the SHRIMP BOAT....don't get me wrong.. Shrimp Boat has good food,, but we were all BLOWN away with this dish that we had at the Granite.......FYI... just a note... their tuna dip was a lil dry.. he is trying something new..if you are use to a dip type of tuna dip,, it will be dry.. it was GOOD,,, but I make my own and I am use to the creamy kind.....

Mmm Le Shack, that takes me back. That restaurant was incredible. Haven't tried the Granite Cafe ever since it went through a sports bar phase.
