Just for your information. We do have some meals that are gluten free available at our restaurant. I am not suppose to have any gluten either. Can you imagine owning an Italian Restaurant and then finding out you can't have gluten.
We do have a very tasty Gluten free pasta available. We will make it for you fresh for you when you come in or if you call ahead we can get it started before you arrive. As you know it takes longer to cook.
I also am working on a Gluten free pizza.

Thank you! We used to love a little Italian restaurant in Athens, GA. It was our fav date place. I was afraid that we wouldn't be able to enjoy eating pasta away from home anymore!
It took 48 years for my other half to find out he was not supposed to eat gluten, so I can believe anything.

He's talking about my other half, Mr. Clean, that has been GF since the day before Thanksgiving. Also, MissCritter has one in her household also.

Michael, have you taken samples of your goodies to the area's coffee houses? I would think they might be a good place to start.

They have already found the thread, but I would take them to local coffee houses. Spring break is right around the corner and I haven't been through one yet that I didn't witness a parent freak over a peanut or other allergy inducing item spotting.

I spent last night baking about 100 gf chocolate chocolate chip muffins. Does any body have a suggestion on what I should do with them. I think I'll drop some off @ For The Health of It. Those guys are great. If anyone else wants to try them. Send me a reply.

I'd be happy to try them. I've got to send GF stuff for V-Day this Friday with the girls.

Michael was kind enough to deliver some chocolate chip muffins to my office and they are DELICIOUS!!! Rich, moist and very chocolatey (is that a word?). I shared mine with a co-worker, who also raved. These taste as good as any "regular" chocolate chip muffins, and have no gluten, soy or egg products. I don't know how Michael does it, but if his cakes and pies are half as good, he should be mucho successful. Critter Junior will love these.

I got to try Michael's chocolate chip muffins last Friday. Well, let's say I got to try a 1/2 of one.... The rest of the fam gobbled them down quickly! They were incredible.
We've tried a number of GF products, some great and some terrible (i.e., garbanzo bean powder in pancake mix). Michael really works magic with his. And Peaboy says that he is the nicest guy. Can't think of a better reason to really support him & his business.
SWGB & others, I was thinking he could drop business cards & info off at local rental agencies for tourists wanting GF products without having to cook. Whatdya think? Any other thoughts?

Rental companies are always looking for local things like this. You'd be amazed the questions rental agents get asked. Also nothing greases the wheels like free samples.
Let's just say that the bike rental companies that gave donuts got mentioned a lot more than the ones that snuck in with fliers.

gluten free pizza dough?
Michael,
I am currently serving a gluten free pizza crust upon request. The product is good, but a bit smaller than I would like. I would love to be able to serve an organic product from a local source. Have you ever experimented with pizza crust?

After several colossally awful failures in my attempts at baking gluten free bread for Critter Jr., I feel obligated to congratulate Michael on his fabulous GF products. Believe me, it's no small feat to produce a GF product that is as good or (in the case of his chocolate muffins, anyway) better than it's traditional counterpart.
^5, Michael!

pizza
I am currently trying to perfect my pizza crust. I hope to have some samples by this weekend. I love pizza so I want it to taste like pizza not cardboard with cheese and sauce.

For The Health Of It has MANY gluten free offerings, and a knowledgable staff. They've been a real blessing! And now I can pick up some of Michael's muffins while I'm there. Wonderful!!

Sorry to bust in on your thread like this, but we're visiting the area in July and five of our kids are gluten-free. I noticed a few of you mentioned pizza crust (ftr, our favorite is the Gluten Free Pantry French Bread & Pizza Crust mix - it makes a FANTASTIC gluten free pizza crust. I spread it on silpat with wet hands and it smoothes out beautifully. Not cardboard-y at all and has a nice texture - no grit, no strange flavors).
I'm wondering which restaurants have gluten free pasta and pizza - I think someone above has mentioned having them. And, we'll be sure to check out the baked goods in town!
Thanks so much.

I'll be dropping off some free samples at For the Health of it in the AM come get some before they're all gone!
I got my website up! It's not complete kind of a work in progress. I'm willing to take some constructive comments.
