Walmart50 is on a distinguished road
Anes & Pain Consultants, PA

So, nice little story about this company that provides anesthetics to Sacred Heart Hospital patients...
Last year my wife had to have an epidural during her delivery.. They gave us a self-pay discount and we had to pay $1000 for the epidural..
This year when they give my wife an epidural, the price jumps to $2000 and they say they cannot give a self-pay discount because of legislation. (every other doctor or medical service provider is not aware of this legislation apparently because we received a self pay discount from everyone else)

They said if we pre-paid for any services that we could have received a discount. Hum....
I know deliveries are somewhat planned and can be looked at in advance, but what about other ER visits etc... What happens when you receive the $2000+ bill when you are not expecting to have to go to the doctor or hospital?

I did more research and found that insurance companies pay roughly 1/3 of the price that they are billing us.

Nice how even during a time when health reform is a national priority this company would still perform this unethical act.

IMHO it is borderline unethical if what you're saying is true. Everyone knows that United Healthcare, Aetna, Kaiser etc... would all have a negotiated rate, that is about 40% of this bull**** pay cash quote - and if they don't have the heart to offer that, they're a bunch of assholes - you should take them to the court of public opinion - i wish they could come on here and respond.

Same deal if you visit the ER without insurance. The prices are truly outrageous, and the "self pay discount" is a really bad joke. Without insurance you have no negotiating power. It's pay up or have your credit ruined, and you are paying extra to cover the cost of the people who can't pay. The hospital has to make it up somewhere.
I speak from personal experience.
And it is so reassuring when they come around to your ER bed and ask for your credit card.
