Any realtor recommendations? Wanting to buy in SoWal
Hi everyone,
We vacationed in SoWal early this summer for the very first time and fell in love with the place!! Now, we're wanting to see if it's feasible to buy an investment property there. Please let me know if you can recommend a Realtor who is honest and has lots of knowledge of the SoWal neighborhoods...and who has been in the area for a while.
Thanks so much!

We recently made a purchase with Nancy Norris. She did a great job for us and is very familiar with the area.

I'm with you Grayday... very frustrating to see good deals go by when you're not in a position to act.

...I know quite a few people "in a position to act" and it isn't frustrating them one iota.

And good for those people, truly. It is a wonderful thing to feel content with exactly where you are and what you have, as I do for the most part. But for some of us, the city grind is really getting old and a more relaxed lifestyle is calling. I think there are good deals to be had for those who can take advantage of them now and likely for a few years to come.

Out of curiosity, Shelly, why is that?

Because they rely on their guts and not their emotions--as such, they're not susceptible to the latest round of RE "we've reached a bottom" hype. There's plenty of inventory now and much, much more yet to come...there's no need to rush.

...why not just take a vacation? Why do you feel you need to tie up hundreds of thousands of dollars "now" in a money pit that will sit empty most of the year until you are ready for that "relaxed lifestyle?"

I've played this argument over in my head for years, but one day when I can responsibly do it, I want more... a place my kids and someday their kids can call the family beach house. Yes, it's an emotional goal not focused on cash flow, but that's a discussion for the real estate forum and another day.
The focus of this thread is someone is ready to be an owner right now and has asked the SoWal community for recommendations on local realtors. There are clearly several good ones from which to choose.
I hope this poster finds just the right piece of South Walton to call his/her own (and at the right price!).

Thanks so much everyone!!! I appreciate all the responses! I'm not sure if we can find something affordable for us right now, but we thought we should at least look to see. Thanks again! Love this forum :-)

...there's no harm in looking--try hitting open houses that serve snacks

Another question for y'all...to help me narrow down the Realtor list. Since this would be an investment property, is there a particular Realtor who is really good at assessing the rental market, rates, appreciation value, etc...helping us crunch the numbers to see if it makes good financial sense to purchase a rental?
Thanks!!!

Garner Chandler without a doubt - we've purchased two with her and she is outstanding. Knows the area, husband owns Yellow Fin, has kids in school and is smart, cute and funny...did I mention smart?

...I'd have my doubts about any Realtor who can crunch the numbers on a vacation rental in the present market and come up with numbers in the black. Even if you pay cash, you need to make sure that they factor in the lost opportunity costs.
