Its still difficult to believe that something as great as Firefox is free. It is completely customizable, and almost never crashes. I have tried google chrome and its a good browser but it does not have all the add-ons firefox has.

FF - Open source is a beautiful thing. I agree about Chrome. I wouldn't doubt for it to be number one after another release or 2. Google will probably start incorporating apps into it so that you never have to open other programs.
SoWal.com vistor stats:
IE - 73%
FF - 18%
Safari - 6%
Opera - .1%
Other and mobile make up the remainder.

Firefox is definitely number one in my book. IE and Chrome are crap in comparison. However, when everyone gets on FireFox, it will be more likely to be a focus for hackers.

singingchix,
Yes, you can install FF without touching IE. Same for the other browsers. I keep IE loaded b/c there is one site which I frequent which is only about 95% compatible with FF, so I have to use IE every once in a while for the 5% which isn't compatible. I actually use a beta FF, in addition to the regular one, IE and Chrome -- all installed without issues. You can go into your default programs under the "Start" ("set program access and defaults") menu, and set your default browser to whichever you want.

Speaking of free, I've switched from my outdated versions of MS Office to OpenOffice - and it is great! Word processing, spreadsheets, drawings, presentations, and it's all free and (I think) just as good as Office. You can even save the documents in Office formats.

I'm really surprised to see only one Mac user (Safari) in the poll. Any comments on how it works?

I am on a Mac, but I still use Firefox. When I came over from PC, I was already in love with it. Safari sits by as a back up.
Flock is a cool browser based on firefox, but it is for social networking addicts. It integrates with facebook, twitter, myspace etc...

I was really loving the latest version of chrome and then it started doing odd things with the new website I'm working on so i went back to Firefox. Like a well-fitting glove.
Chrome was a tad faster maybe and a little sleeker but not quite there yet. Another version or two and Google will overtake.

I have used FF and IE and honestly can not see any great advantage to one over the other.

Firefox. It's faster and more secure than IE.

Something to consider with IE is the constant barrage of attacks on the program from hackers. Hackers despise Microsoft and they work feverishly at exposing any of it's software applications vulnerabilities.
IE is constantly needs updates to counter malicious .html codes and scripts that infect unsuspecting users without their knowledge until it's to late.
The hackers don't care about inconveniencing the individual they just want to "muddy" Microsoft's reputation for security.
I have personally used Firefox since it's inception and Mozilla Netscape prior to that. It's the first suggestion I provide to anyone asking for a safer operating system.

IMO any "Hackers" with skills to mess with MSIE are busy getting paid to hack it, not because of any hate for the corporation. "Hackers" are either spammers, criminals, or paid workers for the anti-virus industry.
............
I just started using Thunderbird - so far I like it and it has features I always wished Outlook Express had, as well as being a little cleaner and more logical interface.

As a Mac user, I prefer FF to Safari. Can't really offer any techy descriptive as to why... FF just feels friendlier, faster and 'cleaner' to me. I retain Safari as backup even though over nearly 5 years of use, FF has only frozen up 3 or 4 times (and even then for just a matter of minutes).
