Adventure board takes a paddle in Hogtown Bayou

The creative genius of Jeff Archer and Tom Losee, of local YOLO Board fame have just come up with a new toy to paddle – the YOLO Yak. The YOLO YAK is the first of its kind hybrid stand-up paddleboard/kayak.
Tapping into a new facet of their already popular line of boards, the YOLO Yak now offers an experience even the novice paddler can enjoy. The Yak’s stability in the water provides the perfect board for the beginner young and old, as there is virtually no learning curve.
The durable polyethylene construction provides more versatility than fiberglass boards. The Yak can be easily maneuvered in lakes, bayous or waters where obstructions such as logs may otherwise have the potential to ding a fiberglass board.
Designed as a full adventure board, the 11’10’’ long 33” wide YOLO Yak has a recessed deck to facilitate better stability for a variety of water pursuits such as fishing, crabbing, beginner surfing or flat water paddling.

Dog socialization classes available at Bark Park



Pups were learning good behavior and socialization at a class held at the Bark Park on Jan. 25.

Civil War Declared at Peaceful Eden Gardens

Annual School of the Soldier with Civil War Skirmishes Jan. 24 and 25

On this the 145th anniversary of the Pt. Washington skirmish, Civil War reenactors of the 7th Vermont Company D and the Walton Guard will lead the event with drills, skirmishes and rifle and light infantry tactics. The North Florida Artillery,15th Alabama and the 2nd Georgia Sharpshooters Infantry units will also participate. Visitors may also view demonstrations of Civil War medical practices, period camp life activities and a ladies tea. All are invited to chat with participants and discover what life was really like for men and women in the 1860’s.
Event is free with admission to the Park ($3.00/Car or $1.00/ Bike or Pedestrian). Eden Gardens is located in Point Washington North of Hwy 98 via Hwy 395. Events are scheduled from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Saturday, January 24th, and 9:00 am to 2:00 pm Sunday, January 25th.
