A Good Start – Bud & Alley’s PIZZA BAR – Seaside FL
It is a bit early for me to sample the food at a restaurant which has been open for only one day, but I know the Dave, the owner of this new restaurant, and a friend invited me to lunch, so I don’t know how lunch could go wrong. After getting the full tour of the long-awaited Bud & Alley’s PIZZA BAR by the owner himself, I have a feeling that this restaurant will be an awesome place to enjoy some good food, a glass of wine, or a cold beer. The new covered deck, still under construction, is about as close to the Gulf as dining gets in South Walton. I could see the waves breaking in the distance, while standing on the new deck – my idea of perfection!
Yes, a few years ago, this was another pizza place, but let me assure you, this is a different restaurant. The long community-style dining tables outside are a welcome sight. The two small buildings are a painted a very soft green, and the metal seating is painted a nice contrasting orange, and I really like the contrast of color. I felt right at home. One of the buildings hosts a nice bar, and the other is the kitchen, with the only brick pizza oven that I can think of in South Walton. Some dining is available inside each of these small buildings, but much of the seating will be outside, under roof, but fairly open otherwise. The restaurant is casual dining, and the menu is definitely Italian. There are plenty of choices of salads, appetizers, and pizzas, with wines by the glass or bottle, and beer.
Prices are held to a reasonable price with salads ranging from $8-$10. Appetizers are priced from $4-$15, while the pizzas range from $10-$14.
I wasn’t able to sample every item on my initial visit, as swimsuit season is upon us, but every plate I saw coming out the kitchen looked fantastically presented, and very tasty. Being that this is the PIZZA BAR, I felt it necessary to sample a pizza, the “Funghi” in particular, that’s “mushrooms” for you people who don’t leave South Walton. My pizza was perfect! Fresh ingredients, simply prepared, quickly served, and with a smile. That is definitely my style of pizza. (I’m beginning to wonder if I am really Italian.) I know it was only the day after opening, but I cannot think how they could improve upon anything. Dave, you are off to a good start, but I cannot say that I am surprised.

I recommend the "Farmer's Market" pizza. I guarantee it's unlike any veggie pizza you have ever eaten stateside. ABSOLUTELY authentic. Chef Reese is a master.
Thanks for bringing a true taste of Italy to Seaside.Posted 04-08-2009 at 05:04 AM by Tara Casas
