Captain Larry Pentel is a native of South Walton, growing up just 300 yards from the beach. Having fished the local waters for over forty years he is very familiar with all the fish populations, their habits and most importantly their habitats. The finest Snapper and Grouper fishing found anywhere, sight-fishing Cobia along the sandbar or spectacular Tarpon fishing at Indian Pass are all part of the seasonal experiences provided by Capt’n Larry.

Snappers and More Snappers!

Destin - Saltwater Fishing Report

The long awaited opening day of Red Snapper season finally came and I don't think anyone was disappointed. The fish are still everywhere and anyone who went out had a nice limit in the box pretty quick.

Opening Morning and Yes the Gal Caught the Big ones!

The great news is that the fish actually seem to be biting better as the season progresses. We are throwing lots and lots back, trying to just keep the bigger or seriously hooked ones. I have run a couple of short 2 hour trips in the afternoon this past week and we have had no problem catching fish steady even in that short a time.

These folks got their Snappers quick so we went and looked for Kings for 1/2 the trip with great success. A nice Dolphin is always a great bonus on a spinning rod!

I have always said that kids and gals are the best fisherfolks- These young ladies just prove my point. They caught a pile on a 4 hour

This gal came out on a short PM trip and said she had never caught a fish before. She learned quick and did great !

While we are all talking and thinking snappers right now it won't be but 3 more weeks and I'll be going into Tarpon mode. I plan to be at Indian Pass on July 1st and have my first trip on the 2nd. The reports I have been getting from my son and the other guides over there is that the Tripletails are red hot. Most folks are seeing 30 to 40 fish on a half day and catching lots. My son, Capt Will, told me they caught 7 on the way to West Pass to Shark fish, caught several sharks and saw 12 tarpon while sharkin' 2 days ago! It's wonderful to hear the fish are already there this early. I am just going to be at the Pass for July this year so I can get in on what little snapper season the Feds have cut us back to in August. I still have some Tarpon dates open so give a call if you want to battle with a giant silver king. As always, no charge for the bunkhouse if you want to come the afternoon before and spend the night.
