So, I have spent much of this morning reading and commenting on a thread that I knew had inaccurate information, half-truths, and innuendo that would rival a great mystery novel. Unfortunately, this is not the first time that I have had to do this but its ok because that comes with the territory of a bulletin board. Or does it?

Do we as posters have any responsibility to perform any fact checking of the information we post. Or even more basic, do we have any responsibility for the information we post to be accurate if it isn't coming from an outside source. It appears to me that this board and others like it have the ability to shape the hearts and minds of those who participate, and some posters have even a greater power to wield than others. But, since it is self-governing should we as readers take posts with a grain of salt and do like we were all told as children and "only believe half of what we read."

I know that honest mistakes are made as I have made my share, but I think that the accuracy of a post is something that should always be considered before jumping on the bandwagon. I know that I will continue to be skeptical as I peruse the posts...
