I understand the ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly renovated Dock in Inlet Beach is scheduled for January 6, 2009. Our family will be glad to know we have access to Lake Powell and can get in and out with our funyaks. I love Walton County and appreciate David Sell, Beach Maintenance Manager and everyone's hard work putting that dock back into useable order. I can't wait for spring.

The Beaches of South Walton Tourist Development Council (TDC) hosted a ribbon cutting on Jan. 6 for the newly reconstructed fishing pier on Lake Powell.
The fishing pier is located at the eastern end of Walton County on Lake Shore Drive off of Orange Street, north of Inlet Beach. It is is approximately 50 feet in length with a 10×15 ft. deck at the end with a bench overlooking the lake.
Originally owned maintained by Walton County, the pier had become dilapidated and was turned over to the TDC in 2007 for reconstruction and maintenance.
Although there is no direct access to the lake for swimming or boat launching, the pier offers a spectacular view of Lake Powell and is quite suitable for throwing a fishing line or taking in a view of the lake.
Mary Brown, Ken Gifford, and Dave Sell TDC board members, along with Susan Brown Burgess of Scott Brannon’s office and Sonny Mares, TDC director, cut the ribbon for the opening.
“I am excited and proud of the commitment and dedication of Walton County and the TDC for continuing to improve and ensure the public’s ability to access and enjoy our treasured waterways countywide,” said Scott Brannon Commissioner, District One.
