Also, I don't know whose tower it is nor which companies will lease the rights to it, so you may or may not have better reception. When they get it completed, remember to update your tower info on your phone so that your phone can pick it up.

This reminds of my mother who lives in a small town in SC. When she's on her cell phone at home she has to stand on a stool in the corner of her foyer...so she doesn't like to talk too long like that. Probably one of those things you have to see to appreciate the humor, but it's funny.

I have had some Alltel reps tell me that it updates only the towers in the roaming area, and I have had other reps tell me that I need to update it regularly to pick up any new tower signals. In this area, it is usually news that we have a new tower, so I don't update it regularly, as I rarely pass the Factory Stores in Sandestin and Lake Powell to the east.

well, they need it according to friends of mine on nextel - the extended coverage has been promised for about 5 years. and its awful in our area. Alltel is still the best as far as I know - does anyone know differently? I would like to know... I have alltel, and have very few cell connection problems in the area (seaside only, on occasion)...

In the central part of SoWal (PCB west to 30-A/98), Verizon customers are in "extended coverage" - meaning Verizon is using Alltel's network. (Or at least that is how it was explained to me before I signed a contract with them. :blush: ) Verizon is supposed to be upgrading coverage in the Santa Rosa Beach area; I can vouch that the signal at Emerald Coast Middle School is stronger than it was at the beginning of the school year.

*228 is the update feature for Verizon as well, but I have to be at least as far west as Grande Boulevard at Sandestin to use it.

Look, Seabrz, I'm celebrating my 4000th and 1st post talking to you! I would talk longer (I promise it wouldn't be empty ;-) ) but I have to put finishing touches on my ornament. I do want to tell you, though, that at one point all of us had one lonely post just like you, and look what happened to us. Oh geez, I am sorry. Have I let you down? :( I was in such awe of that large pole that I had one installed on my front lawn. Now I am in a study to see if it will reverse the damage to the DNA of my brain cells emitted by the microwaves. Let me ask you this. Is your post above as lively as the new celltower installation, which will be making many happy cell phone subscribers?
