Hi,

We just relocated to the area and have to go out of town last minute for one night next Tuesday, 9/26. We have a very sweet 3-year old Lab who has never had any experience going to a kennel due to always having friends/family where we used to live who enjoyed staying with him or having him over.

We will be open to a kennel but would prefer to go the route of having someone stay with him this first time (he's still a bit confused by the move.)

We are at the Okaloosa/Walton county border in Destin (we tried very hard to find something in South Walton but we love spending our free time on 30-A! :D ).

Thanks so much for any help you may be able to provide!

This was on my list of threads to start too- thanks Jennifer! We are moving down next month. Also check out the gals that post under "2bohemians"- they pet sit. I am also interested in groomer info- are there any good ones? My mutts need an occasional shave down!

I would also be interested in knowing if there are any pet sitters in SoWal, I tried to find one for last weekend but to no avail...luckily a friend of mine was able to come by a few times a day. I also have a 3 year old lab who is much more comfortable at home than at a kennel. I have to be out of town October 5-8 and will need a pet sitter for then if possible. Any suggestions would help...

Send a private message to steeleing3 for inquiries for pet sitting. Not sure about that far into Destin but she might have some recommendations.

Good Morning,
We just saw your post on the board and wanted to throw our info your way. We live in Santa Rosa Beach near Goatfeathers on the 30A. We are both licensed Realtors for Century 21 Beach Realty. We moved here from Los Angeles about 4 years ago. In LA, we used to pet-sit and house-sit on a regular basis and absolutely loved it. We have not done it since moving here but would be glad to help anyone out who needed our services as our schedule is very flexible.

We do have a 12 year old Whippet named Smoothie. She is a mellow and good old girl and we would never feel comfortable putting her in a kennel so we completely understand the importance of having someone you can trust pet sit. When we did the jobs in Los Angeles, we were always welcomed to bring Smoothie along and we were wondering if you would be open to that if we were to be hired by you for our pet-sitting services?
If you didn't feel comfortable, we are sure we could work something out but we always like to ask - it just makes things easier.

We are going out for most of the day today but we will be back later this evening. Please feel free to give us a call if you would like. Here is our phone # 850-267-1677
Have a fabulous day and we will look forward to hearing back from you.

What a good thread, I too am in need for a pet watcher in a couple of weeks. I have a couple of people that I have talked to who may be able to help me, but it is still in the air right now. I may just drop them off as Cil's house  on my way thru PSJ. Maybe I should let her know. :floor:

Finding someone to go to the Destin line from SoWal for some pet watching, may be difficult. I find that the people who like pets and would be willing to feed and walk the dogs, typically have their own pets to take care of, and they are not willing to leave their own pets -- there in, lies the problem.

I managed a Veternarian hospital for 15 years, and would be happy to pet sit for anyone needing the service. I am well educated, and have a ton of experience with all kinds of small animals, birds and some exotics. My own pets hate to be Boarded, and are much happier staying at home. Peace of mind while you are away, knowing your animals are well cared for and happy is wonderful. If you are interested in my services, let me know.

Can anyone give me an idea of what to expect to pay for a petsitter for a daily visit for 2 cats?

I normally paid $20.00 a day. That was her rate. She did water plants, clean litter and anything else I asked.

My son would love the job! He is 13 and takes care of our two himilayans. Let me know what you require (once per day, twice, litter, food, water, plants, mail... etc)
