With cramped area elementary schools, Academy reaches out to community to provide elementary education alternative

Rosemary Beach, FL –May 26, 2006 – The South Walton Montessori Academy (www.southwaltonmontessori.com), a non-profit educational institution committed to providing children with a foundation for life-long learning, is reaching out to the community to make known available room in its elementary age classrooms for the 2006-2007 school year. The Montessori elementary program includes children ages 6-12 years of age. The Academy’s classrooms consist of children mixed in ages within a 3-year development span. Mixing ages enables the older, more socially advanced and capable children to become role models for the younger ones. A feeling of community develops as younger children are aided by older ones and as older children learn nurturance and leadership through their experiences with younger children.
“We are a young, but growing school supporting our community’s families by providing an alternative for the high demand of pre-school and elementary education. Our doors are open to students who seek an alternative educational curriculum and facility,” stated Catherine Beall, SWMA’s School Director. “Our intent is to provide a permanent facility for our community which will also house additional students and allow us to grow our grade levels as well.”
The children of SWMA, parents, teachers and friends have been supportive of the school’s growth through fundraising campaigns, event coordination and community recognition of the school during the first two years of its existence. The school recently held the Torre Rosa Auction to raise capital funding to assist in the building of a permanent campus at Rosemary Beach which is planned for completion in 2007.
“We envision providing education alternatives from toddler through high school ages in the years to come,” said Steve Bradley, South Walton Montessori Academy’s President of the Board of Trustees. “Our philosophy has always been to instill in the community that we will be a supportive and productive entity in which parents can count on as an educational alternative.”
The Academy also offers Toddler (ages 15 months – 3) and Early Childhood (ages 3-6). If you are interested in enrolling your child, more information on the school’s limited tuition assistance, taking a tour of the school or any other information please contact SWMA at cdbmontessori@hotmail.com, www.southwaltonmontessori.com or call 850-231-5955.
