As I was preparing for my final approach to the landing pad on Blue Mt Rd about 6-7houses east from the 83 access, I suddenly saw that it wasn't a pad, but the beach front yard of a beachfront property. A quik abort was done and I flew on my way. But what about those lights, and on half the night every night! Anyone noticed or tried to land there? Watch out for blinded loggerheads when you step out!

This should be reported to both the FAA and the sea turtle patrol lady. I have been trying to get something done about the unnecessarily bright light right next to the beach access and our house at Grayton for several years. Every year, there are sea turtles smashed in the road next to this light. I guess the light is there to protect some human lifeform, but all it does it attract humanoids into the deep sand in the accessway. Part of our recreation every year is waiting for someone to drive out and bog down, then seeing if our guys can extricate them faster than the deputy can ticket and/or the tow trucks can swoop down on them. A misguided young woman in a bikini can empty our place faster than a housefire!

I just happen to be on the phone with Sharon Maxwell (South Walton Turtle Watch Coordinator) and I will let her know!

Yep, Ms. Maxwell is the lady, bless her heart. I should call her to see if her contact with Chelco yielded any results about my light problem. We have blackout drapes on our bedroom, so it doesn't really bother us. I just feel badly for the turtles and for the people who jump out there into that deep sand and end up with an expensive ticket for their trouble. Thanks for mentioning the other situation to her.

Ever heard of a pellet gun? Take that sucker out. When they fix it, take it out again.

Her number is 897-5528 if you want to call her regarding the lights. She's very nice.
