As I have been doing my research on the area getting ready for our vacation I discovered a neat site...it is called Google Earth...not sure if any of you have ever been to this site but it allowed me to view your town and hotels/condos from space...pretty neat eh? Here is the link: www.earth.google.com (http://www.earth.google.com)

If that does not work just google GOOGLE EARTH...there will be a short download involved...but it is well worth it...feel like I got a "birds eye view of the area". Use the local views and type in Panama City Beach, Florida...you can even type in the names of hotels and see where they are and what is nearby...just too cool.

And BTW...these are not always real time...rather they are captured pics from either satellites or aircraft...

Thought I would share this neat find with you guys.

my spyware protection refuses to let it run since its an web app - supose i could fiddle with settings, but will wait for usefulness verdict - looks like same pics as from terraserver, but without the topo and streetmap overlays

It is a cool site, but it is never in real time. Most of this area has two yr old photos. Microsoft hooked up with terraserver many years ago, leading the push toward imaging as such. It want be long before all of the map system searches are run through programs such as this and you will be able to see real time images in 3D.

So a friend of mine, on discovering Google Earth, does the obvious and Googles the family home address. Seeing a car parked in front of the house, not knowing it's not real time, and wanting to show off new-found web prowess, there follows the call to the house: "Say, whose white car is that out front?" :idontno: :floor:
