Dumb question--I have read about people kayaking. Do you do this in the gulf?
We have a canoe--if we brought it would be have much use for it--staying at camping on the gulf in Destin.

I recommend avoiding taking your canoe into the Gulf. You are only asking for trouble. However, there are amble lakes around here, not too far from Camping on the Gulf which are very suitable for a canoe. Those lakes are one place where I canoe. Many of the Lakes seasonally open to the Gulf so you will be right there if you want to be, but you will be able to ditch many people while out there. :D

I wonder if Walton County will ever put in county parks around some of these coastal dune lakes. Redfish Lake looks like it would be quite a bit of fun to canoe in.

There are public accesses to most of the lakes already.

How do you get to them? It would seem that these need to be well marked so that everyone could enjoy them.

Hey Arkiegirl, you can canoe the lakes and bay, but they will seem really tame after doing the Buffalo river! Lots of serenity though :clap_1:
