FYI - With the coastal dune lakes not having been broken through from the Gulf for a long time, they are filled mostly with fresh water. Gators love fresh water and are showing up a little more often lately. Recently, three alligators have been "relocated" from Eastern Lake. The latest one removed was on Wednesday and it was about 9 ft in length -- not a huge gator, but it could take out a small dog or child without much effort. Gators have always been around here, so this should not come as a shock. As more and more people invade their native environment, we may be more likely to see some face to face time with them. Please refrain from feeding the Gators as doing so will help to reduce their fear of humans, and can eventually lead to trouble for someone down the road. ;-)

Guess I shouldn't go kayaking there for a while. No worries, the last thing I would do is feed an alligator.

Wondering if that the gator that killed the 23 year old woman from Paris, Tennessee. She was snorkeling in a secluded recreation area at Lake George, Florida.

Wondering if that the gator that killed the 23 year old woman from Paris, Tennessee. She was snorkeling in a secluded recreation area at Lake George, Florida.
The friend who forwarded this to me says it is, but then he's a Vols fan, so I can't totally trust him.

She recently took a job in TN- but she was actually from Louisville and went to high school right down the street from our house, and her mother and most family are still here. She was a very talented young woman.
