I just had to pass this along. It is fascinating reading. I cannot imagine why anyone would want to put a huge development in a middle of desolate Taylor County (in the big bend area) nor why the state would allow the developer to dig a channel through a pristine seagrass preserve so boats can go in and out to the Gulf. But it might happen.

It's not until these dudes emerge out of the swamp and set up their little "pre-sale" tent, banners and balloons by the side of the road that they'll realize that the "real estate thing" is SOOOOOO Over!

Interesting, because Taylor County seems to be directly in Alberto's path.

All 67 counties used to be like Taylor County. This latest attempt is nothing compared to past stupidity. http://www.dep.state.fl.us/gwt/cfg/history.htm

Would you go to Vegas and plunk $1.5 million on 1 number of a 100-number roulette table and hope that the ball WON'T land in your number--some would, some won't...that's a measure of one's risk aversion.
If only the companies who sell home insurance here in Florida had as rosey an outlook as the developers life would be swell. :D
