Hello everyone,

I just returned from my first trip to Seagrove beach this past week and I loved it.

Coincidentally, my aunt, who loves Seagrove beach, died after an extended battle with cancer.

I would like to make a memorial donation of about $50 to a beach preservation type society that helps to preserve Seagrove or other SoWal beaches/parks. I would prefer it not to be a membership but a one time donation that I could do in her name.

Are there any groups that take donations and would send a card to my uncle stating that a donation has been made in my aunt's name?

I have been searching the internet and I have not found anything other than memberships, but I have not contacted anyone directly.

Any ideas would be so greatly appreciated.

:welcome: IndyBeachLover. So sorry about your aunt. :(

What a nice idea you have. My first thought is for you to contact the South Walton Community Council. They are a membership type group but I can't imagine they wouldn't accept a simple donation, and I bet they'd write a quick note to your uncle to let him know. Here's their website with contact information.

South Walton CC (http://www.southwaltoncc.org/)

I don't know if any local organization has a setup like you describe, but an extra phone call or two would probably produce some results. Perhaps some locals have other suggestions. Good luck.

Friends of Eden Gardens State Park

I'd snail mail the donation with a note explaining that this was a one time donation in honor of Seagrove aunt's life. Since it would seem like they'd be the sorts to preserve the art of Southern manners, I'd expect them to send a card back to your uncle.

Thank you both so much for the ideas! I will contact these organizations on Monday and see what I can find out. She and my uncle particularly liked Deer Lake State Park, so I would love to make a donation to the state parks or associated groups.

Thank you for the words of sympathy. She was only 52. We were on vacation in Seagrove when we heard the news and rushed back to Indiana. We cut our vacation short, but I'm sure we will be returning. We really loved it there.

Sorry to hear about your aunt. The ideas given for Eden Gardens is a very good idea. It's so nice of you to think of giving in her memory to something other people can enjoy and that represents an area she loved.
