I had this sent to me by the NHC (National Hurricane Center), as I am on their list to get data on all stropical systems / storms. I went to the site, but nothing was there - yet.

Anybody have any more word on this as of yet other than the first notices the NHC sent out? :idontno:

I've looked and looked and looked. Nothing at wunderground or weather.com or the NHC. Saw the satellite photos on weather.com, and even loaded the animation, and while it looked like there were a few clouds running around in a circle there was hardly any cloud cover at all on the western side of Cuba. Did notice that the sea surface temps are pretty high all over.

I guess the thing to note is that it is the Cuban government, not the NHC, issuing this update. Still, it's :creepy:

Looks like they were just setting up a test and someone hit "send." Like when a prewritten obit accidentally shows up on a website because someone pushed the wrong button.

Looks like the Cuban gov't. was conducting a drill and the NHC thought it was real. :rolling:

The gods found out that I am flying out of here on Sunday. Every time I get on an airplane there is some catastrophic weather going on. On the way down, we were out on the runway ready to take off when the airport was shut down due to a tornado warning. We thought the plane was going to be blown over. Fortunately, this one looks like a false alarm but there is some foul weather coming in on Sunday...natch!

I'm going to try to ignore the weather channel unless a storm is about 2 days away from our area and then just check in now and then. I'll call this week to confirm my insurance is up-to-date and then try to relax this season. After 3 summers owning in SoWal, maybe this is what they mean by being a "seasoned" gulf coast owner.

I'm going to try to ignore the weather channel ...
Should have just stopped right there. The Weather Channel, and everyone else, get most of their information from NHC. NHC updates every six hours, if there is anything going on.
