I'm an 11. What exactly does this mean? Is this good or bad? :idontno:

CATEGORY ACRES

FOOD 3.2

MOBILITY 1.7

SHELTER 2.7

GOODS/SERVICES 3

TOTAL FOOTPRINT 11

IN COMPARISON, THE AVERAGE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT IN YOUR COUNTRY IS 24 ACRES PER PERSON.

WORLDWIDE, THERE EXIST 4.5 BIOLOGICALLY PRODUCTIVE ACRES PER PERSON.

IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 2.4 PLANETS.

I'm a 12. Wonder if this is a scaled-down version; I've read that a true personal footprint measurement requires things like actually weighing your possessions.

I can't finish this quiz because I have no idea what Mexican city has weather most similar to Indianapolis. I've never visited a Mexican city! Why would they expect me to know this? :idontno:

Thank you, Miss Kitty. I was getting pretty mad about that and even madder that they expected me to be conversant with metres and kilometers as well.

I'm a 19 or a 20. Some of those questions had choices that couldn't be accurately answered, like the one about how often you eat meat. We fell in between on that one. And ditto for the airplane miles. One year I went to France twice, but many other years I didn't go anywhere by airplane, so I couldn't exactly figure out how to do that one either. I guess the bottom line, though, is that I'm not half as green as they'd like.

Kimmi, I couldn't for a million years imagine you in birkies or flowy skirts. Especially not after looking at those high heels you're lusting after! Maybe you're green because you use public transportation? Like taxis?

Yeah Mer to da maid...Me neither. Not that there is anything wrong with it, but it's just not my style!
I do take the subway...and cabs only when it's raining or it's the weekend and I'm out super late.
I do want to save the manatees though.

i was as honest as i could be. i think what ran it up were my (work)driving habits, and my flying(25 hours) jet fuel pours major carbon into the air. and, my industry creates a heck of a lot of non-recycleables

I scored a 10, don't commute, fly rarely, etc. My score 5-10 years ago would have been at least 25-30.

:floor: You know better than that--I'm painfully honest!
Let me tell you the secret--cram 6 people into a small house and let the existence of 4 of those people preclude the other 2 from having enough money to fly anywhere. See, it's all in the math.

30. Interesting assessment. I think flying for work (and to come to SoWal) somewhat often and owning a van (even though I don't drive it very far usually) influenced the score quite a bit, as did not buying enough foods that are grown locally.

I keep a lot of interesting self-assessments on my class website for students and I just added this one to the section we cover on "crafting a life". Thanks.

A big ole 45. The quote" If everyone lived like you, we would need 10 planets" wasn't too pretty. Glad to know there are other folks around to help out!
