Happy Earth Day!!! I hope each of you find one thing, small or large, to change in your daily life which will better our planet. Start today! "It is never to late to be who you want to be." (I forgot who said that.):D

Thanks for posting this SJ. My 6 yo and I were trying to figure out what we could do for the planet today. There's not a lot of trash to pick up anywhere near where we are and I can't plant a tree without a landscape plan. :floor: Any other ideas?

Long term, I've been reading about "peak oil," which has to happen eventually, so say a lot of physicists. And the repercussions as they stand now are downright frightening. I think I'm going to start saving more cash, which is a good idea anyway, plan my car trips better and start turning to ebay more instead of always looking for "new" stuff.

There are plenty of ways to shape the Earth. Maybe you are thinking too large. I am sure if you run a search on ideas for helping the Earth, you will find hundreds. You could start with something as simple as using less water in your daily activities, not turning on your lights in the daytime, turning off outside floodlights at night, combining runs to the store instead of running to the store for one or two things, etc. Regarding planting a tree, you could always volunteer to plant one in your favorite park, or your area's school yard, govt office yard, etc - with permission of course, and you don't have to do it today in particular. Don't wait until Christmas to give a gift to a friend -- Give gifts of joy and love year round!

One year we were in SoWal on Earth Day and we got into Grayton Beach State Park for free, as a present from Mother Earth (that's what the park ranger told us). I thought it was kind of sweet.
