Anyone have a recommendation for a good kennel in the area for Easter weekend? Looking for a good place for an 80-pound lab. Thanks in advance!

I would love an answer to this as well. Need a place for a pug and dachsund.

You might try Emerald Coast Kennels 850 267-1679.

Our pup had an emergency last fall. We took her to Animal Medical Clinic of PCB, 8501 Front Beach Road, 850-235-2877. It's a very nice facility, and their boarding cages are in full view behind a glass door in the lobby. It's very clean, and because it's so open, they can't have any dirty little secrets. When we got Gator fever on Monday and almost flew up for the game, we would have considered boarding our dog there. (She's never been boarded because the breeder has made us paranoid about kennels).

BTW they have emergency medical services available 24/7, they're really nice, and the vet seemed very knowledgeable.

If you go there, don't stand on the metal plate on the floor at the front desk. If you do, everyone in the room will know your weight. I made that mistake.:floor:

glad our vet doesn't have one of those - if i stood on it, it would scream tilt, tilt. and if the dog and i both got on it, it would say does not compute, does not compute :funn:

TFT: How about a good pet sitter recommendation VS a 'kennel' - anyone?

Thanks for the recommendations gttbm and BR. I will check them out!

Unplugged, pet sitters are no doubt a valuable commodity, but they won't do for our specific circumstances. We are helping my sister in law move to New Orleans over Easter weekend and SoWal is our halfway point (we're going to stop for a few days and relax). She has a dog and our house is not pet-friendly. As a result our management company would require major cleaning and pest control treatments in order for it to be considered ready for the next renter.

She looked at flying the dog up, but the warmer it gets the dicier it is around here. We could drive straight through, but that would be no fun at all, so we thought we would board the dog for a couple of days somewhere close by. :idontno:

I have friends that have boarded their dogs (big labs) at Dr. Barry's on 98 near Sandestin. They say their dogs get excited whenever they go and love it. I do know that Dr. Barry is a great vet, but I don't have personal knowledge about their boarding.

For what it's worth, our experiences with Dr. Barry's staff and clinic has always been FIRST CLASS :clap_1:

SGB thanks. Would that be Barry Veterinary Hospital on South Shore Dr. in Sandestin?

I'm getting ready to pass all these numbers to my sister in law. She will no doubt want to interrogate them all!

I think it's time to change the 'ole 'tar here soon. I might as well while I'm at work right?!

With a lab, two puppies and two cats, Barry Veterinary gets a sizable chunk of our family medical budget. We haven't boarded any of them there, but I can give glowing recommendations of their doctors and staff.

Meanwhile, we adore Emerald Coast Kennel, and so does our lab Daisy. I sometimes think she would rather be there than here.

Joyce, I appreciate it! My sister in law will be pleased with all the good info.
