Kurt,
Thank you thank you thank you for the new site! :D
This is to continue the discussion I started today on graytonbeach.com. If Van Butler starts a middle school, what will become of So Wal's middle school? Are there enough students in the area to support two middle schools?
Can't wait to play around with the new site & learn how to use smilies, avatars, etc, etc 8)
I don't think they're planning to keep the middle classes at SoWal High. But student numbers have been growing faster than projections, so that may change. There's already a new High School planned in North Walton.
When will you be here full time?

Well, Grayton "Bound" is more wishful thinking than actual planning. I would love to be there in 2-3 years; don't know if it will ever work out. Until retirement anyway. :(
Wow, SoWal must be growing by leaps & bounds to support all the new schools. I guess I thought it was mostly tourists instead of residents.

oops. accidentally posted my reply under Otter's name...I'll figure this out eventually :? From, GraytonBound.
I think if you're using the same computer, you each would have to log in and out before the other posts.
We are getting more and more permanent residents. Young familes and retirees alike. The next 5 years will make the last 5 look slow.
What kind of marketing do you do?

Finally got a window this year...
Now you know why I want to move to SoWal
I don't know if you've got my screensaver off GraytonBeach.com, but it might help you through the day. :)
Hmmm - I need to make a new one.

I have a GREAT screen saver on my home computer of me & RiverOtter at Grayton...pre-Ivan. But nothing at work...I need to look into that. By the way, I do soooo miss the beachcam :(
I've been waiting to hear back from my wireless internet guy about setting up a wireless beachcam. I have the spot. I'll call him again tomorrow. It's hard to get things done around here sometimes.

Considering the big fuss about too much of an age spread among the kids when the combined high school/middle school opened, and how so many parents fought the closure of Bay Middle, I'd suspect that the middle-long range plan all along was to more the middle school kids to another site as soon as enrollment numbers would make two schools financially feasable. Only reason now that they're combined was because of what were current enrollment numbers right around the time the new high school opened.

My son will be a 7th grader at Emerald Coast Middle School, which is the new facility behind Butler Elementary. Last official word was that ECM would be ready by the time school starts (August 5 - yikes!). Note I said official. I have heard unofficial information that there is no way in hades the school will be ready by then, and that the high school classes have reclaimed the middle school wing at SWHS so nobody knows for sure right now where we will start school  .
In short, move on down. The school situation may be chaotic, but we will all be in it together! The principal's name is Dr. John Haro.
