I guess as long as the property owner had a contract for a permanant seawall before the Oct Meeting, he or she can get away with illegally dumping horse sh_it on the beach. :bang:

This property is located on the west side of the Seagrove Villas.

The county should impose HEAVY fines for folks who do that. If you can afford the seawall.....do it right. I doubt that they fill their home with stuff from the dump. Why would they want the land in front of them to look that bad?

Cheap and expedient. How do they sleep at night?

I think I'll let my dog poop on their yard. I know where they live.

Looks like the caca will blend right into that dark dirt that they are putting on the beach. They probably claim that they washed and microwaved it and it meets the ordinance. That look like s&*t for real. That does not even look like sand to me  :bang:

Where is that being done? Really a shame.

Where is that being done? Really a shame.According to Greg Graham at the County, they don't even have to claim the washed and microwaved sand color meets the old criteria.

That does look pathetic. Looks like the sand along the Louisiana beaches. Looks worse than that along the Louisiana beaches. They do not even know any other sand color other than brown. Not the white looking sand that everyone is accustomed to seeing along the gulf.

I believe Ro Cuchens is doing the work at that location.

Is there a shortage of white sand right now or is it too expensive?

From what I've heard, the County has the funding to do beach renourishment for virtually all the beaches in Walton County, but they are having a major problem locating even a portion of the 500,000 dump truck loads of white sand that is needed to complete the work.

They said that there is more than enough sand.

It is on a fast track now, but the big hold up had been obtaining the permits from the DEP.

That's completely off base.

This is from an email from one of my neighbors. He refers to the letter I've posted at http://home.earthlink.net/~beachrunner/beachRestoration.pdf.

As I mentioned, one of the scientists who addressed Seaside, and later the public at the library a few months ago, said that there is plenty of the white sand to restore the beaches of Walton County. He addressed a specific location, which I think was Pensacola, located 50 miles to the west. The problem is the cost factor of shipping it here.

Anyway, this thread is about the horse sh_it colored dirt being placed on the beach. It is not because white sand is not available. It is because some people refuse to pay for the white sand and they don't give a crap about anything other than their house.

This thread was about trucking in sand. Beach renourishment is not done by dumptruck as you implied. Also, funding is not mentioned in that letter.

Granted there is not enough white sand nearby to renourish the beaches artifiicially, as nature would do, given time. Renourishment is a process that will most likely have to be repeated again and again until the sand on the beach is totally different than what we're used to.

The offshore pockets of white sand are limited. The current project on the west end of the county is taking sand from the pass at Destin, but they may suck all the white sand out and be left short.

....and apparently neither do the people who have the authority to do something about it. :idontno:

Are there a lot of owners getting away with this? I'll be down there in April with my parents and teenage kids what can we expect in regards to the beaches near Adagio. I know they are building a seawall and repairing the ocean front pool. Also, I am planning our summer trip. I know we're a little late in doing so but I'm confident we'll be okay. For that trip there will be 7 of us...my family of 4 & brother-in-law, his wife & daughter. We would love to find something with 2 king beds if possible. If anyone has suggestions, I'd love to hear from you!

The majority of owners are not trucking in dark soil. For rentals - try the rental forum.

They can come to GA near my house, the Georgia DOT has tons of it dumped along side of the roads along the main highway running towards my neighborhood...they are using it to shore up a 3 mile stretch of ditches in order to widen the lanes of the road...imagine this, tons of beautiful sugar white sand, only to be paved over with asphalt.
