yesterday and the day before, (and probably today and tomorrow) the forest service was working the prescribed burn between 395 and 283. i'm all for it, to burn off undergrowth and prevent potential catastrophic wildfire at the hands of some clueless cigarette butt flicker, or camper, or kids. but, what i'm pissed about, is that the fine folks doing the burning did nothing about removing the plastic sheeting in the culverts, and sent cooked plastic into the environment. do public servants not have a degree of care, or at least common sense, to live up to? does anyone have any contact info for the FS? this really bummed me out, especially after the debacle last year on the western lake burn.

I got back to town last night around 9:00 and the smoke and odor were so strong - it was burning around noon when we left on Wednesday and the smoke was black -must have been the plastic burning - GREAT!!! Wonder what that will do to our lungs to breathe this?

I love how they push plastic bags at Publix....have been told paper bags cost 6 cents each.

The unnecessary waste of all that plastic is why I asked them to sell the reusable canvas bags. Now, the canvas bags are available to purchase and reuse at all SoWal Publix. :clap_1: I have several which I keep in both cars, so that I never have an excuse to get the plastic. However, after the new bagger bagged my groceries during my last visit, I was busy talking (imagine that), and she proceded to bag all of my groceries in plastic before placing them in my canvas bags. I discovered this when I returned home. :bang: My only guess is that she thought I used the canvas to prevent the plastic bags from blowing a whole in the bottom. I will train her my next visit.
