I just got back from Grayton Beach, and through the dense fog (which is quite lovely) I saw a LOT of trash left from New Year's Eve celebrations. (The trash was NOT lovely) :(
If it's not storming, please join me tomorrow morning (Monday the 2nd, which is a Federal Holiday) at 8:30 or so and help clean up the mess. Wear shoes, bring gloves and trash bags. I'll have some extra trash bags with me too. If it's storming, I'll go later in the day and would love to see you then.

Yesterday I cleaned up a bunch of junk that had been near our beach walkover since the summertime - broken chairs, ratty badminton sets, incomplete horseshoe sets, burst batteries, you name it.

Speaking of clean up, does anyone know why the highway from Defuniak Springs to Samson is so littered? I have never seen so much roadside litter in my entire life. The unusual thing was that most of it was styrofoam go-boxes, drink cans/bottles, and cardboard 12-pack beer holders. Really disgusting.

There will definitely be a storm delay - the strong thunderstoms are forecast to continbue all day. If you would like to help, please join me at 8:30 tomorrow.
As an added bonus, the Northwest FL Daily News wrote yesterday that cleaning up the beach counts as exercise! (and a voice of experience 2nds that one)

Good job BR!

sunshine....I so wish I could be there with you to help clean up! I am doing my own post cruise cleaning and laundry as we speak!

The weatherman predicts perfect weather for tomorrow morning. If you've got a bit of time, come on out and join me at Grayton, or wander your own beach. Who knows, you just might find some treasure in the trash.

AM temperatures - mid 50's rising to mid 60's.

Thanks all, and let's do what we can to keep our beaches the best.
