I guess area registered businesses just received this email.

"Walton County EOC has closed Walton County beaches, due to dangerous rip currents and extremely high tides. There have been reported rescues due to people entering the water under double red flags. Please tell all visitors and residents the water is dangerous and is closed through Monday evening. An evaluation by EOC will be made early Tuesday morning."

Rescues...are you kidding me????? I think the people that get in the water when there are double red flags should be charged with a crime and their picture put in the local paper under the heading; Idiot Endangers Life of Safety Personel

Rescue Workers Will NOT go into the Gulf to Rescue Swimmers today

Tropical Storm Warnings remain in effect for the locals beaches where serious rip currents are occurring today. Double Red Flags are flying along the beaches. Surf conditions are extremely dangerous.

Personnel from the Panama City Beach Police Department, The Beach and Surf Unit and Panama City Beach Fire Rescue WILL NOT go into the Gulf of Mexico for any swimmer in distress until further notice.

Swimmers are being told to stay out of the Gulf of Mexico until the water is calmer and double red flags are lowered

We were doing a tour of the major beaches, heading east from Grayton, when we found the BM access closed. I'm glad they closed them, because I saw people taking unwise risks with kids earlier this AM.

How stupid is that? I'm not saying they are, just giving an example. Can you imagine evacuating just to turn around and drown in the Gulf? :bang::angry::pissed:

My understanding is that the beaches are closed. The TDC can only rope off the public accesses which leaves a lot of private ones "open." Either way, there just isn't a lot of dry beach to stand on anyway.
