They forbid posting the actual article, but here is the link to his opening.

Not sure if everyone has heard of Barry, but he's a Pulitzer winning, nationally syndicated columnist for the Miami Herald. He retired years ago, but he's covering both conventions. Mango, you probably don't want to read it because it has the potential to be the most inflammatory thing ever posted on any internet message board ever. Barry's a bit sarcastic, saying that Biden may speak until dawn and he alludes to the fact that Obama has been called a Muslim, a socialist, a vampire and a lesbian. I don't think Dave really believes that he is a vampire, but seeing that repugnant names disguised in the body of a satire are beyond reprehensible, I wouldn't want you to chance it. Everyone else - Barry's coverage will be carried by The Miami Herald, linked here.

I love Dave Barry as well- I own many of his books and I used to read his articles...

6th Gen, the last piece of satire you posted was no Dave Barry piece- that's for sure. I agree with Mango that it was trash presented only under the guise of satire. Hopefully the passion with which she expressed this viewpoint hasn't distracted you from the viewpoint itself.

I would imagine that folks like yourself who enjoy Dave Barry's brand of humor/wit/satire/sarcasm are able to see how the last one you posted is very different in nature...

Or not...

BTW- were you at Grayton Beach Fitness Center this morning?

It wasn't Dave Barry quality, but I can take a dart and throw it at my computer and hit a thread on here that is far more inflammatory towards conservatives, the administration, Fox News, etc. To call it the most inflammatory thing she's read in two and a half years is Dead Parrot sketch silly.

Pffft. No. Why, there an Olympic athlete being told that he had poor form?

Fair point...

If WFB was at Grayton Fitness, that would be enough to draw me there. Unfortunately for everyone not named Gore Vidal, Buckley passed earlier this year.

Dave Barry is amazing. I laughed my butt off at the article. He breaks all of the rules, starting with those that govern the proper use of parentheses. I think I love him.
