Lehman (LEH)
Washington Mutual (WM)
Fannie Mae (FNM)
Freddie Mac (FRE)
Corus Bank (CORS)
BankUnited (BKUNA)
Downey Savings (DSL)
Wachovia (WB)
Regions Financial (RF)
MBIA (MBI)
Ambac (ABK)

The key here is there is virtually no chance the Fed can save them all, or even most of them. The list is simply Too Big To Bail.

If you have more than 100K in any of these institutions or own stock, deversify them.

There's a full article on Shedlock's blog explaining each institution on the list.

my suggestion...make informed decisions before moving your money.

Know how and how much you are covered...check out www.fdic.gov (http://www.fdic.gov) to educate yourself on insuring your deposits. They also have a great calculator, check it out for yourself! www.fdic.gov/edie/ (http://www.fdic.gov/edie/)

"If a depositor's accounts at one FDIC-insured bank or savings association total $100,000 or less, the deposits are fully insured. A depositor can have more than $100,000 at one insured bank or savings association and still be fully insured provided the accounts meet certain requirements. In addition, federal law provides for insurance coverage of up to $250,000 for certain retirement accounts." (http://www.fdic.gov/deposit/deposits/insured/)
