Unfortunately, I think it does have and will continue to have an impact. It already has affected the campaign in the eyes of many who have posted/commented, as well as in discussions on the street, so to speak.

Frankly, the only ones I hear who raise the issue are those who support other candidates and are looking for some dirt to hurt Mr. Cornman and help their candidate.:yikes:
I have seen on other blogs/websites/e-mail circulations that Mr. Cornman and Mr. Cooper "won" the debate last evening. Anyone else have a report on the proceedings and what the candidates had to say about the issues?:confused:
I also heard that our cooking sheriff could not find time in his busy schedule to attend and lend his expertise to those gathered. :floor::floor::floor::floor::floor:I think this says all one needs to know about his efforts to remain in office. :biggrin:Were the other candidates in attendance?:clap:

I wouldnt go as far to say that he and Cooper "won" The first half of the session was all about alcohol and tobacco which is what Cornman works around now, and what the session was sponsored by. I personally think that Cooper and Adkinson did very well. While Brown was nervous but gave an inside look on how the Sheriffs office is ran because he stated he recently quit. Wise was lost and in his own little world along with Macon....I wont say anything about who didnt show... It speaks for itself... The audiuence was allowed to ask questions the last half which was much more interesting....

I would say there was no "winner" on that stage. The true winner was the audience that took the time to attend. The first glimpse of the candidates was revealing. I would also add Cooper and Cornman provided the best and most realistic responses. Adkinson made some good points also. Brown, Macon and Wise should pick one of the other three and team up. On this forum, Ralph is out, but it is premature to think that feeling is shared through the county. I agree it is time to change the administration of the Sheriff's Office, but judging from the poor turnout Thursday night I would also say not many people really care who the Sheriff is. That is the type climate that will put Ralph back in office. I would also like to see a "make up artist" spread some powder on all those shiny heads before the next forum. The glare hurt my eyes.

Mr. Cornman does live in Bay County
BUT…… Walton County is part of his district.
He lives near his office (in Panama City) so he can be available 24/7.
His home has been for sale for sometime, as he knew once he started his campaign there would be closed minded people like yourself who just do not understand or would take the time to learn his, commitment to Walton County.

Tony Cornman has not worked in real law enforcement for about twenty years. Walton County Sheriff's Office is not the tobacco or alcohol police. That has been the majority of Tony Cornman's career. Tony Cornman promised in the last polictal forum at Freeport High School, that the sheriff office will be strongier on tobacco and alcohol. Maybe Mr. Cornman needs to look again what the sheriff's office has done, with stopping underage drinking in the county. I think the Sheriffs Office doesa great job, and though they do need a change, that doesnt need to be the only focus, as he pointed out.

The Sheriff's Office deals with crime from A to Z, not just tobacco and alcohol. That would make me believe that Tony Cornman would be overwhelemed with real law enforcement that the office would have to deal with. You know that if Tony Cornman really cared, he would live and pay taxes in Walton County. It seems to me that Tony Cornman's dedication is to the Alcohol, Beverage and Tobacco of the State of Florida, not to Walton County!!!!!! The entire first hour of that forum was for the Prevention Coalition to ask the candidates how they would handle substance abuse by the underage and legal aged citizens. They all answered they would be tougher than the present administration and employ some different tactics. :idontno:

I am not coming out with my first "posting" and being obnoxious or rude. I did not post this statement to be throwing dirt. I am just stating the facts, about someone who does not freely tell the truth, unless he is confronted about the issue. Would you want someone running the largest organization in Walton County,who is like that? I know I don't!!!! This has nothing to do with age, If you are educated in the topic that you are talking about. Oh and by the way I am very sorry if I violated your tone in writing, (This is looking at you Mr. Matt Christ Live, aka The Tone Police). I just want someone who lives in our county and pays taxes in this county, to be the person who runs our sheriff's office. It is very apparent that Mr. Cornman wants to keep one foot on each side of the fence or in this aspect, one foot on each side of the county line. I would think it is a bunch of garbage, that Cornman lives in Bay County just to be close to his office 24/7. It is very amazing that some of his employees live in Walton County and still get to their office in Panama City with in the guidelines of their policies. I speak the truth, I don't so called plant seeds, or am scared to speak my mind. If you don't like what I have to say, then it is your God given right not to read, what I write. I also don't have any axes to grind either, because I don't even personally know Mr. Cornman. I have spoken to Mr. Cornman before and I am just stating the facts about him. I would feel the same way about Adkinson, Brown, Cooper, Macon, and Wise, if they did not live in the county that they where running for political office.

Whew! Where to start! Well sir, youv been sent to the spanking machine enough over your inaccurate synopsis.

But I must bring attention to your comment on your claim that the current sheriff has "stopped underage drinking in the county". Yikes! How uninformed you are. Sir, the middle schools and high schools have students that abuse alcohol on a regular and almost daily basis. This occurs most often without detection and with a lack of intervention by those that do know.
Those students arrive at school and immediately purchase Coke, 7-up, Sprite and Mellow Yellow. They add an amout of alcohol at their vehicles and even some at their lockers. The alcohol of choice is typically Gin or Vodka. As you know these are almost impossible to detect by odor once mixed.
Then there is the over the counter drug, Zyrtec. There are others but at this time this is the choice because its so readily accepted in the classroom environment and is not challenged much by school staff. Whats wrong with Zyrtec? Hey it might be a fine product. But the reason its the students choice is it causes drowziness! Wholly wooziness Batman! A legal high! Coupled together, well you know. Thats just the very tip of what going on in the schools. Even steroids are abused without impunity by the jocs.
I know, lets tell the SRO's. HAH! South end? PLEASE! SRO south "if you think I have time to check all the sodas you have another thing coming, besides "you know who" would have my head".
North end SRO? Not a chance, hes too busy coaching to even notice the odor of weed everyday behind the new dugouts.

If we are going to base our vote on who has lived longest in Walton County, who has the most "sheriffin" experience, disqualify those who have kept their current job or who moved away to better themselves, who left a larger county instead of run against the established sheriff ( anyone know who Larry Campbell is?) then I guess we will just re-elect ole ralphie--------NOT:bang:

It would be most helpful in every race to calmly consider each candidates qualifications and stay away from such tripe as redsox is trying to sell us.:pissed:

For my sake, I hope I'm not as blunt when I'm older. I've been pretty blessed to meet some pretty successful and interesting people. From CEO's of National banks to State Senators to Hollywood stars, I've noticed the singular trait they all posses is the art of subtlety.

In many jurisdictions, in many States, candidates for public office (especially and particularly including law enforcement positions) allow for contiguous County residence as this allows for a larger candidate pool to select from. After all, how different can the next-door County be from the one you work and sleep in ? The mutts you lock up certainly don't respect borderlines,...they 'work' both sides of that line. As far as the "job" is concerned, the broader "candidate selection pool" helps water down the candidates who think they're "entitled" to the "job" (maybe just because of a fire union endorsement;...Not to take credit from either service, but it's"apples & oranges" guys). Welcome to professionalization, which has thankfully been occurring at a rapid rate over the last 5 or 6 years, particularly at the "Deputy" level. Lets not stop now while we're in the 'progression' mode; Young Deputys coming into the Sheriff's office and young citizens like Matt Christ (who posted above) are idealistic and expect this progression. Let's not disappoint them: Vote for Tony Cornman, He knows his mission here in his Walton County birthplace and he's willing to fulfill that mission for the benefit of us all. He's promised to relocate back to Walton County if elected; What more can you or anyone possibly ask? How can you deny this man's professional law enforcement experience or his dedication to law enforcement? Personally I can't and I won't. Tony Cornman for Sheriff of Walton County!!!!
