I don't see SpellCheckkeer anywhere on this message page. How does Kurt expect those of us who did not pay attention in elementary school to type without Word's Spellchecker and Google's " is this what you ment to spell?".
I have been reading THE FORUM for many, many, many years... and have enjoyed all the humor and, of course, the good SoWal information. Although I don't live here full time, I did make it to all the Blue Monster meetings. And I do thank The Sun for publishing my Op Ed about the lose of Dear Old County Road 30-A. When I first saw one of the Big-Tall-Bright Blue signs for the first time, I realy did feel our 30-A had been lost forever. Dave would have nothing of that, though. Way to go Dave.
My wife and I had been coming to 30-A for manyyears before finally becoming a Walton County taxpayer in 1992. We took an old house in Old Seagrove and remodeled it into a Seaside-ish look. Then about six years ago slapped some sand finshed stucco & siding, built a four story tower and presto we felt we were in Rosemary without the required mortgage payment. As, I think most part time home owners in SolWal, our place is our on-going project.
It has been a real learning experience watching 30-A develop. Seaside had developed to just past Town Centre when we began our first remodeling. 30-A is a wonderful place, but my ideal 30-A would be with the development level of around 2002, but with Publix, the restaurants, art galleries and other good stuff. Dream on! Oh, and WaterColor, Rosemary and Alys fully developed would be fine also.
I guess I am suppose to say something about myself. I like Mike Ragsdale's descriptive wording of "recovering entrepreneur". I use to have a technology business, but no more techie prima Donna issues to deal with for me. As we all know 30-A is a photographer's paradise. There is endless natural and archectural beauty. I feel a part of the 30-A community by wandering around looking for unusual angles or interesting light... and then capturing the moment. Occasionaly a shot works out. SoWal got a little free publicity in Coastal Living magazine last year when they published the amature photo contest shots. Hopefully my Camp Creek sunset photo remined the readers of 30-A's natural beauty. A shot taken of a green wave at Grayton a few weeks ago, is in this weeks Sun. There are numerous other amature photos published in this week's Sun. Everyone seems to come together there and in this forum. I don't come to the forum real often, but when I do, it is very entertaining and interesting. South Walton is truely an amazing place. Ok, I now have a Join Date!
