Early Buzz - new restaurant opening in October

After a brief trip to his homeland of Australia, chef Shayne Vaughan (the former head chef at Criolla's) will be opening his own place in October. I know a lot of SoWal folks know Shayne and his beautiful wife Kim, and will show them a lot of love and support.

If you know Shayne you know what an upbeat guy he is. I shared coffee with him recently and he told me all about his new venture. His enthusiasm is off the chart. I have no doubt he'll do everything he can to please his customers.

The restaurant will be called "A Taste Of OZ" and will be located in the old Fabrice location in The Shoppes at South Haven, 4821 US Hwy 98. It's on the south side of the highway, just east of the intersection of 98 and Scenic 30A.

Hi SoWal!
We would like to express our thanks for the kind words and the amazing show of support this early on. Having been a Chef for over 16 years, opening my own establishment has been a dream of mine for quite some time. Kim and I feel truly blessed to have the opportunity to open "A Taste of OZ" in such a wonderful, supportive community. Our goal is to open the beginning of October and we will certainly confirm that date as we get closer, so please stay posted!

A Taste of OZ will be an Australian inspired Cafe where we will be incorporating fresh, local ingredients with a touch of Australian flare! Our menu will offer breakfast and lunch items and we will be open for dinner 3 nights per week. Watch for some Kangaroo to be on the menu as well! We strive to offer an outstanding product, excellent customer service at an affordable price. We are located at the Shoppes of South Haven, formally Fabrice's location on Hwy 98 in Santa Rosa Beach. Our website will be coming soon.
