Yes. 33 years old, father of two little girls. SRT member.

A law enforcement family's worst nightmare.

There is a memorial fund set up, but I can't find the info on any of the local news websites.

I went to Jr High and High School with the guy that killed the officer and he was a very mild mannered sweet guy who apparently was having some problems. I feel bad for his family as well.

I also feel for his family. There are multiple victims here.

From Northwest Floriday Daily News:

The funeral service for Anthony Forgione is set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Niceville Assembly of God. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.

Meanwhile, a trust fund for Forgione's wife Jessica and two young daughters, Caitlin and Cassie, has been opened at Beach Community Bank. Donations can be made to the Deputy Anthony Forgione Benefit Account at any bank branch.

Several readers have suggested that people drive with their headlights on as a tribute until Forgione is buried.

Tony Forgione is a true hero. He sacraficed his life. His brother is a OCSO Officer and he too is an outstanding civil servant. Never forget that the true hero's are those that DO not talk.

Tony, you will be missed and I wish your family God's speed during this time of healing.

God Bless,

Joey (Tony's brother) actually works at Niceville PD. My heart hurts for all of them. Tony was a Hero for sure.

In addition to the fund you can donate to at the bank, a local bar will be charging a $2 minimum cover and donating the proceeds to the officer's family and another family.

I'll edit when I find the name as I was still sort of asleep when they said it.

An incident such as this really brings home what these men/women and their families endure in order to protect and serve us. My prayers are with his wife and children in this terrible time.

SWPFFA understands the pain of losing a brother in the line of duty. Our prayers go out to his brothers in service and his family.

We will contact his family to help them in any way we can.

A sad reminder of what a small price our taxes pay.
