Serious question as I am out of the rental management game, but have any of the rental proffesionals on here noticed a sudden increase in last minute rentals due to people canceling in other areas?

:idontno: Don't know about rentals. But they can sometimes help accelerate the beach recovery after other storms have impacted us.

Fall 2005 was good business for a lot of people because Katrina evacuees came here and many of them stayed for a couple of weeks.
And when we lived on the Island, I can remember pretty much everything there booking up with Atlantic coast folks during the massive Hurricane Floyd evacuation in 1999.

SSSSHHHHH. . . .I think the it might be bad Karma to rejoice in the surge of business that accompanies another area getting hit by a hurricane. I'm just saying. . .

Just remember that if you get some weather, you're welcome in North Georgia. (Bring the rain with you when you come...)

Do you think fewer people will evacuate because of gas costs/tight budgets?

Hurricane Dolly will hurt us because of all the junk on the beach. Hurricane Dolly will help us because it has the potential of getting all the junk off the beach.

I was not rejoicing and feel bad for the folks in Texas who woke up to a Cat 2 hurricane blowing outside. I was simply asking the question to see if folks would continue with vacation plans and simply go someplace else or if they would just cancel.
